A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

After another late night of glazing in the studio… I probably should have slept-in for another hour or two… or at least been back in the studio glazing again?! Either one. But I could sense that it was going to be a SPECTACULAR sunrise again… and how could I resist??? So I might be tired… and I might be glazing late again tonight… but I’m sure I made the right choice!!!

I mean, look at this!!! … SPECTACULAR!!!

Vibrant sunrise colors sweeping the sky this morning. With a chill in the air, breezes coming in from the lake & waves crashing about… another wonderful morning ride along the lakefront.

It started as STUNNING!!!

Continued as “beautiful” as the clouds moved in and the color disappeared.
And now it looks like we might have cloudy grayness for the rest of the day…
finishing with some bonus rain! Hey, well at least it started as STUNNING!!!

Another beautiful morning along the lakefront.
Enjoying the quiet moments & gentle reflections.
Always the best way to start the day.

Quiet & calm along the lakefront this morning.
Not a lot of clouds, not a lot of wind.
Just some simple reflections to start the day.

We started out with just a few clouds…
and I admit, I had low expectations for a beautiful sunrise.
I prefer the dramatic clouds over clear skies.

But then… as if on cue, the clouds drifted into place and we ended up
having a classically beautiful sunrise with shimmering reflections on the lake.

Kicking off another week with another beautiful sunrise.
Lots of clouds coming in from the northwest… slowly drifting over the lake.
Beautiful colors & glimmering reflections.

I got up and checked my weather app. It said 100% chance of rain at 5:00am…
but that’s an hour-long guess, right???

And since sunrise is about 5:15am, I thought I might be able to squeeze it in before the rain?! Great cloud coverage… some dramatic shadows & reflections… a bit of wind picking up… and then some sprinkles! Which sent me home sooner than I wanted, while pedaling to get home before the rain.

Which I did… and now it’s raining!!!

Another beautiful morning… another beautiful bike ride. We started with almost clear skies… but then the clouds started to move in… and we were treated with a beautifully clouded skyshow!

And thank you to everyone (including my Dad) who checked-in to find out how my CAR fared through the storms. All good… oh… and by the way, I’m okay too!!! Thanks.

But this morning during my sunrise ride, there were downed trees & branches all around… several down on the bike trail itself… mostly around the Montrose area. I lost count after thirty!!! So sad to see so many large old trees damaged by the strong winds over the past two nights. Luckily there were no houses, structures or cars for these trees to land on! And on a good note… it looks like there will soon be a surplus of “mulch” in the City parks department!
