A quick sneaky-peek into the soda kiln before summer camp.
It’s still a bit warm, so I’ll be unloading it later today after my campers go home!!! Can’t wait…

A beautiful pop of color to start your day… another asiatic lily in the garden!

Hazy & humid. It hasn’t gotten that hot yet, but it’s gonna! We have a very warm forecast for the rest of the week. And I think it’s starting today with a morning ride that was already warm & sticky… and me very sweaty!!!

Since I was headed out to the ‘burbs for dinner with my Dad & Bonnie… I decided to head out early for a pre-dinner hike through the woods. The blue skies had turned to gray, but the flowers were still beautiful… and the egrets didn’t seem to mind!

Yes… my Dad has a girlfriend named Bonnie – for five years now.
And she’s ADORABLE!!! They’re the cutest together!

After a full day of being “cooped-up” in the studio firing my soda kiln yesterday…
it felt AMAZING to get outside to play early this morning. Not much in terms of clouds for the sun to play with… except for one exciting moment when it worked through some low-flying clouds. There was some early morning haze… you can already feel the heat & humidity moving in.

A little wispy flame finding its way out while the soda kiln is in body reduction.

After a quick five days of Summer Camp, the kids finished up their projects yesterday with some colorful slips. So much fun to see their excitement as their wheelthrown & handbuilt pieces come to life in vivid colors!!! My personal favorite was the M&Ms bottle & bowl set!

Late night texture… the back side of the soda kiln’s steel door!

An empty kiln… yet full of possibilities! Ready to start loading the soda kiln…

Glazing & wadding finally done… masking tape “seat belts” in place for the ride down the rickety freight elevator. One step closer to loading… one step closer to closing the kiln door… one step closer to bed!!!
