Finished teaching class tonight… and happy to see that my bisque kiln was finished too!!!
You gotta love seeing those four letters!!!

Driving to Lillstreet to teach class tonight… and according to my car’s dashboard, it feels like we went straight to SUMMER today! But never fear… Winter comes back Wednesday as the temps are supposed to suddenly drop forty degrees!!! Welcome to Chicago weather!!!

Everything dried overnight as planned.
All of these pieces will need to be glazed & wadded later this week!

Also… kinda excited to get my “monster” from last session’s THROWDOWN class into the kiln. He’ll be a lot less fragile once he’s bisqued! And then I’ll just need to figure out how to add some color to him?!

Well, here they are… another quick batch of hybrid mugs!
Drying overnight on a slightly elevated plastic grid hoping they dry faster…
as I’m hoping to get them into a bisque kiln tomorrow!!!
The sooner the better as I need them out with time to glaze & wad
for next weekend’s soda kiln firing!!!

Adding some color with flashing slips that will react in the soda kiln when these get fired next weekend! Wouldn’t know it now… but these “should” turn orange! Fingers crossed…

Quick afternoon “escape” from the studio as the clouds are still moving in.
Had to get outside to play for a bit… before returning later tonight to finish up a few things.

Handles on! We now have another batch of “hybrid mugs”… a combination of wheelthrown & handbuilding techniques. Next up… some flashing slips to add some color that will be enhanced during the soda-firing process next weekend.

Each one a different pattern… a different texture… a different hybrid mug in the making!
Thanks to a wide assortment of texture handrollers from MKM Pottery Tools!

While so many potters are at NCECA… hopefully buying their own MKM Pottery Tools… some of us had to stay home to make more pots! I’m working on more hybrid mugs & using some of my favorite texture handrollers from MKM.

Another 10×10 CHALLENGE… this time trying to crank out another batch of my hybrid mugs in the next couple days! My next soda kiln is just over a week away… and I hope to get them in. These are the bottom wheelthrown “bases”… more than ten before 10:00am!
