Fresh from the soda kiln… my little boxes! Done just in time for “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS”… our Pop-Up Exhibition & Sale that starts tomorrow in Evanston! If all goes well, all four of the 4×4 artists will be making “little boxes” in their own medium for a very special display. I made a few extra… as I only “really” need four. But always hedging my bets in the soda kiln. Four boxes by four artists.

Get it?…. 4×4.

Well, we’re just a day away from the start of “4×4″ : FOUR MAKERS”… so today is a going to be a very busy day!!! I’ve still got a lot of projects to finish up, as well as setting up my shelving display & teaching class tonight! Our show goes Friday 2-8, Saturday 10-8:30 & Sunday 12-4.

But if you decide to stop by on Saturday, it is also the “First Saturdays” of art events in Evanston… so there will be a lot of other galleries & shows around the area to see… AFTER visiting us of course!!!

A little “seasonal confusion” around here! With crazy high temps in the low seventies yesterday… I have little green sprouts & early flowers in my front yard already! Too soon??? And then overnight with the storm that came through, our temps literally dropped by FIFTY-degrees!!! CRAZY!!! I know I’m confused by the swing of temps… and I’m sure my plants must be too!!!

Even more textured fun for TEXTURE TUESDAY! You know I love pattern, texture & color… and how perfectly the soda-firing process works to make it all come together!!!

Celebrating another TEXTURE TUESDAY with some beautiful textures fresh out of the soda kiln! These are just a few of the surfaces created with my hand rollers from MKM Pottery Tools. Along with a bit of colored flashing slips, some glaze accents & the beauty of the soda kiln all coming together to make some great surfaces! More to come…

With a touch of overnight rain, it was warm & kinda damp this morning riding on wet pavement. Not my favorite thing to do… but with surprisingly warm temperatures today I felt like I “just had to” get outside to play this morning! There were still lots of hazy clouds hovering over the City, but the view over the lake was clear & orange with just a few clouds breezing through. Enjoy it now… as the forecast for tomorrow morning is 40-degrees colder than today!!! YIKES!!!

Just a couple more hybrid mugs… showing off some bright colors from the soda kiln. See, not all soda-fired pots need to be brown or gray!!! And I love how the soda atmospheric firing totally touches & highlights the patterns & textures made by some of my MKM Pottery Tools hand rollers!
