While the HAMILTON stage is pretty amazing, what with the set, lighting & rotating stage… but the theater itself is pretty SPECTACULAR too!!! I’m always amazed by the architectural grandeur of the classic Chicago theater palaces. Last night we were in the Nederlander Theater which gets me every time!!! Crazy cool architecture & craftsmanship like they just don’t make any more!
I am from Chicago the Netherlands Theater Family known as the Oriental Theater/Oriental Theater for the Performing Arts.I am 60yrs old as a kid, I can remember seeing a lot of. Great movie at the Balaban and Katz Oriental Theater. I remember is a beautiful movie palace, when you walk inside. It feels like you were some place else, from around the world. I have been in side the Oriental Theater, to me is will always be. The Oriental Theater that was the name, when I grew up. The they had the architecture tour back in October 2019. I was out of town and I wish, I was there to see it. It would be nice! if the theater, what give chores on days when there are no performances. Because I’m sure a lot of people like me, that is a big fan of old movie palaces of the 20th Century. I have connected a lot of pictures, of the Oriental Theater. From the way it looked when it first opened up! Until the present day. I created my own scrapbook, even if it’s pictures that somebody else said that I like. Day in there I crop them I do color corrections, and just imagine if I was there. I will take probably over a hundred and some photos, I am a great photographer. I had the pleasure of doing the Balaban and Katz Chicago Theater Marquee Tour, September of 2023.I took over a hundred photos,the price was worth it $20.00!for two hours. Seem like I was there longer than 2 hours, you not going to tour the whole theater. Because it’s so massive and it will take hours. To go further up and see areas that you can’t see on the tour. But the hundred and fifth anniversary of the Balaban and Katz Chicago Theater, will be October 26,2025. And I know usually on that day, they give free tours or you can go into the theater and just walk around. I Will make sure that I am there, so I can see areas that I couldn’t see on the marquee tour.
Beautiful movie Palace it will, always be the Oriental Theater. I was born on October 17,1960 I and my buddy. Have seen a lot of movies here, I have not been inside this theater since my late twenties. I wished I was in town when they did the Architecture tour. In October of 2019 I would have love to have been there, I don’t understand. Why they don’t do tours, on the days when there are no Broadway plays. It’s a money maker and it’s just a thought, I’ve done the Chicago theater Marquee tour. I hadn’t been there in decades, but when I step foot inside. They brought back a lot of memories, you should go to the State and Lake Theater right across the street from the Balaban and Katz Chicago Theater. start doing tours on days,when the theater is not showing Broadway shows.
