And this beautiful African violet has been blooming since last Fall !!! One of my favorite customers propagates & grows African violets… all from his Mother’s original plant from something like forty years ago! A beautiful tribute to his Mom… and a great gift he shared when he gave it to me at my Holiday Home Show already planted in one of my own flowerpots!!!

And it hasn’t stopped blooming since!!!
Not sure why… but I’ll take it.

While this happy wavy one has been replanted recently in a new stamped & soda-fired flowerpot… just finding more “diversions” from working on the REAL projects I “should be” tackling during this crazy time off!

One of the very few benefits of “sheltering-at-home” is getting to enjoy some of your houseplants more… especially when they’re blooming! Like this little orchid that has decided to bloom again for the third time! And not too far behind, I have two more orchid plants that have thrown up some more flower buds.

A lot of people ask what I do to get them to re-bloom. And I tell them LITERALLY nothing!!! You can see that they are still in their original plastic container just dropped into a ceramic mug. No soil added. Just as it came. Sure, they might be a little root-bound… but I figure if they’re re-blooming they’ve got to be happy, right?! And so there they stay… in a mug… in my kitchen window!

Lucky if they get watered like once or twice a month!!!

So you know that skinny little area above your stove? Like that two-inches of “useless” space? Well, I am a firm believer of “more is more”… so I have a tendency to use every space with MORE!!! Gotta love a good collection! Like these little cutie-patooties lined up filling that useless above-stove area in my kitchen!!!

So here I am still showing off some of my pottery collection! Here’s another kitchen cabinet with my Steven Hill dinnerware set. Long story… it’s all here on my blog if you just do a quick search for Steven Hill… I never thought I was going to get it… it was a long time coming… but Steven pulled through, and “surprised” me with these beauties!

Great glazes. Great pottery. Great guy!!!
Thanks Steven!

And let’s not get crazy… while THOSE mugs might be “for show” as part of my collection… I do have PLENTY of pottery to use everyday!!! Some of my own, and a lot of other friends, former teachers & potters I admire!

So today I’m taking over the Lillstreet Ceramics INSTAGRAM feed!!! Nothing too crazy, but I’ll be sharing a bunch of pictures throughout the day… many of them from HOME!!! With this shelter-at-home thing still going on, we’ve all been spending a lot more time at home looking at our own stuff. So I thought I’d share some of my pottery collection… like these mugs that live in my kitchen! Please disregard the stacking… there’s a LOT more mugs than these shelves allow me to display. Plus, you would think with all the free-time we’ve all had lately, I would have found time to dust the shelves?! Nope.

Well, maybe tomorrow…

Two more quick shots as I was headed home… a view of the Chicago Skyline from a distance. Oh, how I long for the day when I’ll be able to ride my bike down there again along the Lakefront Bike Trail… which is currently locked-down due to the pandemic… thank you Mayor Lightfoot!!!

Beautifully wispy clouds coloring the sky. A little chill in the air with a bit of a breezy. Both combine for another beautiful morning ride along the lakefront headed up towards Northwestern University!
