Always great to see one of your stamped & soda-fired mugs being used & loved… making someone’s day brighter! Thanks for sharing your morning brew with us Jan!
So I did a whole lot of laundry this morning… and after ten weeks of Summer Camp… I realized that I have a LOT of tie-dyed t-shirts!!! MORE IS MORE… and it apparently applies to tie-dye too, right?!
So now the soda kiln is empty once more… although I do still have some cleaning to do! Ugh. Gotta scrape the shelves, re-kiln wash them, clean the fire box & tidy up the kiln room. Ahhh… the glamorous side of soda-firing!
Here’s a close-up…
perfect for another TEXTURE TUESDAY!
Oh, and one more… possibly my favorite of the bunch! It’s one of my new “hybrid mugs” which is a combination of wheelthrown & handbuilt techniques. I’m loving the pattern, and the way the glaze is running, dripping & breaking in all the right places. Huge thanks to MKM Pottery Tools for making great textured hand rollers that make great patterns like this!!! Crisp & clean textures perfect for rolling on slabs. Who knows… this one might be a “keeper”?!
You know by now that MUGS are my favorite thing to make!!! So of course there were plenty of them in this recent soda firing. Here’s just a few of them… headed to an art fair soon! Some will go to ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend… while others will go to ART IN THE BARN for the last weekend of September!
A beautiful firing in the new Lillstreet soda kiln! So excited with the colors, the glazes & flashing effects throughout the kiln. No dry spots. No gray “dolphin skin”. No glops from the soda. Just a lot of pretty pots… many of which will be going to ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend! Now I just need to clean ’em, price ’em & pack ’em!
Not a cloud in the sky this morning… just some contrails pretending to be.
Look what just spilled out of the bag… kinda like “letting the cat out of the bag”… but it’s a bunch of beautiful mini-paintings by the talented Mary Foster! Just another collaboration in the works for this weekend’s ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview! Now I’ve just got to add my part in the next couple days!!!
