Mugs assembled… but needing some colored flashing slip accents. So each stamp is getting a little touch of colored slip that should change color and become more vibrant during my next soda-firing… in about two weeks!

Making mugs. Attaching handles. Celebrating Mugshot Monday by making my favorite thing!!!

What’s better than a stamped & soda-fired oval vase???
One that has fulfilled its destiny and has beautiful FLOWERS!!!

Thrown, stamped & trimmed. Just needing some handles to turn them into mugs!
So I’ve pulled my handles the traditional way and let them set-up. Now it’s a process of deciding which handle goes on each mug, and where they get attached. High? Low? Big? Small? Proportion & placement can make all the difference!

And now after a lot of scoring & slipping, I have another batch of mugs ready!
I’ll keep them under plastic overnight and then add some colored flashing slip accents tomorrow.

Let the stamping begin!!!
Suddenly these basic porcelain bowls are not-so-basic anymore!

Fall is in the air… even though tonight it feels a bit more like Winter!!!
And it’s always fun to see people using my pottery in their homes…
especially to dress up their table with some candles, acorns and a stamped red platter
by you know who! A beautiful combination.

So Cheryl Holz has been narrowing it down. Finalizing the pairings of her multi-media paintings with my stamped & soda-fired frames. Once she decides, and stops second-guessing herself, they will be adhered to the picture frame. Then they will all be making their way to ART IN THE BARN this weekend. We will reveal the collaboration in both of our booths… she’ll have half of them upstairs, and I’ll have the other half downstairs in The Barn.

Lots of patterns, stamps & textures…
drying slowly on some elevated plastic grid so they dry more evenly –
hoping to avoid any warping with even airflow on both sides!

So MY part of the collaboration is done! Now it’s up to Cheryl to match-up her paintings to go with my soda-fired picture frames. I can’t wait to see how she pairs them up. I love her paintings… and I hope they “play well” with my frames! We’ll each be selling collaborations in our booths at ART IN THE BARN.

Making frames for my next collaboration project… and you know I love collaborations!
My friend Cheryl Holz makes these really great “mini” paintings… so I’m making some ceramic frames for them! Our plan is that these soda-fired frames will each host a Cheryl original painting… and be available only at ART IN THE BARN in Barrington next weekend 9/22 & 9/23. Mark your calendars!
