Another batch of Christmas ornaments in the making.
Only 70 days until Christmas… I’m just sayin’!!!

My latest batch of mugs on this Mugshot Monday… ready to dry, bisque, glaze and soda-fire!

Adding some colored flashing slip accents on my latest batch of mugs on this Mugshot Monday!

Adding a band of black slip onto a couple of white porcelain platters.
Sgraffito coming soon!

Playing with porcelain. More mugs coming soon!

I just finished adding handles onto my 27 mugs!!!
And Jacob is still running his 26.2 miles.
Okay… so he’s mere minutes from finishing his first Chicago Marathon.
HUGE CONGRATS JACOB!!!
But I still think I won… not that I’m at all competitive?!

Just finished pulling my handles. So while one of my pottery students is downtown running his first Chicago Marathon, I’ll be in the studio doing my own little Mug Marathon!!! Attaching handles to mugs as Jacob runs on!!! He’s almost halfway… who will finish their Marathon first??? He’s got twenty-six miles… and I’ve got twenty-seven mugs! Seems fair, right?! Run Jacob Run!!!

Getting ready to make some mug handles on this early Sunday morning!

Another platter stamped… all done with just one stamp pressed in over & over & over again!
Did I mention over & over?… again & again???

A lot of people ask me how I fire my wheelthrown ornaments. Well, I also make little tripods for them to e propped up on in the soda kiln. I dip the tips in kiln wash so they don’t stick to the ornament too much after firing. This way, I can get some nice soda flashings on all sides of the ornament…. and not really see where the prop points were. And yes, I make new tripods for every firing!
