I unloaded my cone 6 glaze kiln last night… just a couple, last-minute pieces that will be headed to the Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival this weekend. Here’s the top layer with lots of colorful promise…

Layer two didn’t look too bad either… a new batch of textured tiles!

Your cone 6 glazing is beautiful and breaks so nicely over your textures! Very inspiring! Are all of these the same base glaze with a different colorant on your tiles? I have had challenges with crazing on some of my translucent glazes, but still working on it.

CHRISTY – Thank you. I’m pretty new to the Cone 6 world of glazing. I’m encouraged by a couple of my new glazes, but still working on them. Each of them have a different glaze recipe. I didn’t even think of a “base glaze” with colorants until I was already too deep into mixing & testing these ones. I might backtrack a bit and try that approach – start with a good base and adding some colors. I too have been dealing with some crazing issues. Nothing too drastic, but I’d like to get rid of it all together!!! Thanks for checking in… I’m sure there will be more to come on my Cone 6 glaze journey.
