Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play
Categories: art fair, process

With November right around the corner…
I’m becoming a little overwhelmed with the idea that my Holiday Home Show
is now less than three weeks away. So I’m in the studio trying to crank out as much
work as I can to fill another soda kiln before then. At least now I’m one step closer…
I just designed my postcards and sent them to the printer!

Sure, I’m running a little behind schedule on these… but with expedited shipping,
these will get out into the mail just in time! But until then, mark your calendars now!

“My Home For The Holidays” Home Show 2011
Saturday, November 19th – 10:00am-6:00pm
Sunday, November 20th – 10:00am-6:00pm

More details to come…

Hi Gary,
The pic of your card doesn’t show. If my memory serves me correctly, this happens every year when you post your HHS card. Yet, all your other pictures always work fine.
Is it the file format of the card that gives this blog software trouble? I’d really like to see your card…

Aaaarghhh!!!
Yes, it is an annual dilemma. And I assume it is a file format issue.
The card is designed & created in Quark Xpress, saved as an .eps, then re-saved as a .jpeg so it can be imported into the blog. I’m not a computer-techie, so I don’t really understand the problems? However… the bigger “dilemma” is that the image shows up just fine when I open the blog on my Mac, but not when I open it on a PC. So there’s another issue at work here somewhere??? So the dilemma is… keep the image in place for the Mac people, or delete it so it doesn’t annoy the PC people. Either way, the story can stay in place whether the image does or not. Also… if you send me your mailing address, I can make sure you get an actual card in the mail!

I assume you use a Mac, but,if the files came from a PC the chances are good that the .eps files weren’t
saved with a preview. In order to get one you’d have to open the .eps and
resave it making sure that the Include Preview box is checked if you’re
on a PC. Macs do it automatically. But check anyway

Yep… I work on a Mac.
But I’ll retrace my steps and see if I can figure it out. I’d love to keep the picture in, but don’t want to annoy the PC users out there! Thanks for the tip!

Okay… so I just tried a different route, and I think that it worked. I’ve switched out the image and it now appears on both Mac and PC. Hopefully it shows up on your computer as well?! And thanks again for letting me know there was a problem. GARY
