With warrantied replacement parts & pieces… I’m back up & running with my favorite Giffin Grip! So much fun & so much quicker… especially when trimming these little cutie-patooties mini vases!!!

Okay… so I may have “over-used” my Giffin Grip… if that’s even a thing?

I LOVE my Giffin Grip… but I take it on & off my wheel so many times each week for trimming. After “investigating” the un-centered wobbliness… it appears as though one of the three “connectors” has a small fracture. Three connectors underneath… vertical, vertical, not-so-vertical?! Luckily, Giffin Grip has replacement parts & pieces… so I hope to be able to ”centered” again pretty soon! Of course, this happens on a day when I have a lot of bowls to trim… ugh, centering the old-fashioned way!!! Ha!!!

Last night during my LILLSTREET THROWDOWN class, I had my students do a little trimming challenge. Taking their “perfect” three pound bowl from last week’s class and trimming the “perfect” footring on the bottom… making it an even “perfect-ER” bowl! We were also looking for a more refined & even wall thickness from top to bottom… giving them a chance to take off some of the extra weight they may have left at the bottom while throwing.

Out of curiosity, we also weighed them all before & after to see how much clay they trimmed off… or at least they thought that was why we were weighing their bowls!!! HA!!! More to come…

Doing a little trimming in the studio tonight… on the new batch of mugs! I love trimming… even more with some of my favorites from DiamondCore Tools & Giffin Grip. A perfect duo for a fun night of trimming!!!

Gotta love getting those perfect spirals when trimming…
especially with my DiamondCore Tools trimming tool.

Hybrid mugs moving along! Trimmed the bottoms today on the wheel. You know how much I LOVE trimming & a good footring!!! Gives everything a sense of style & refinement.

You gotta love when that perfect “spiral collection” happens in the center while trimming a platter. So thin, so even, so smooth… so useless?! I’ve always thought there should be “something” you can do with these when they happen…. but they’re just so fragile that they always end up back in my reclaim bucket!

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE trimming?! Well I do… so this was a fun time trimming all of these mug bottoms!!! And yes… I do hand-sign the bottoms of every piece.

It’s a BIG day for trimming in the studio today. Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE trimming?… especially with great trimming tools from DiamondCore Tools & my Giffin Grip! The perfect trimming combo!!!

The perfect pottery production combo… two of my favorite studio tools in action together! Sharp trimming tools from DiamondCore Tools working along side the Giffin Grip. Smooth ribbons of clay coming right off while anchored down on the wheel & easily centered!
