Tonight’s magical moment… frozen & illuminated from behind.
More sparkling beauty from my frozen back porch.

With my Intermediate students, we’re all working on “chip & dip bowls.” We’ve already thrown the traditional “all-in-one-piece” chip & dip. But last night we tackled a little gravity-defying stacked version! Fingers crossed… as I always love a class demo where we’re all trying something new.

A little more icicle magic. Frozen fringe hanging on my back porch… encrusting some dead vines from last summer that “someone“ forgot to cutdown at the end of the season. But look what beauty my… I mean “someone’s” laziness has created!!!

Looks like might have “forgotten” my bowl at my friend Melissa’s house.
My bad.
Hope she can find a use for it… now that it’s been added to her collection!!!

So while those bags of clay rehydrate… my afternoon plans changed too. I grabbed a different bag of clay and made a quick batch of fortune cookies… with fun textures made with handrollers from MKM Pottery Tools.

So I was hoping to throw a whole new batch of something this afternoon. But found that bags of clay pulled out were too dry to throw with. So I’ve poked them with a bunch of holes… filled them up with water… closed them up & set them aside for a few days. They’ll be fine… just have to be patient while the clay rehydrates. Checked the clay box and it says 2023… guess that makes sense!!! HA!!!

One last alteration to my set of class demo bowls… on the bowl with a split rim & two indents. I told my students I might add a large loop handle on this one to make a fun “basket bowl.”
So I did.

Sure, the ombre’ blend of colored slips was nice… but I thought it could use something more! So I did a little carving with my favorite P1 carving tool from DiamondCore Tools this morning… and I’m glad I did!!!
