Yesterday however, started out with a lot of clouds… but with an opening for sunrise potential. A sliver of color along the horizon, striking at first… and soon enough, our only hope for a sunrise as the clouds moved in!

Not much of a sunrise today. Just a lot of clouds & wind… and GRAY.
Not so pretty, unless you’re into neutrals. Personally, I prefer a bit more COLOR!!!
Quite the dramatic start this morning. Not quite sure I’ve ever seen a sunrise start like this?! And trust me, I’ve seen a LOT of sunrises!!! Then as the sun was trying to get up, the sky lightened enough to see the cloud-cover that was causing all of the drama. And then the rain started… and I pedaled home… in the rain!
Kicking off the holiday with a very quiet & serene ride along the lakefront. From the looks of it, a lot of people were taking the morning off as they were so many fewer people out on the lakefront trail this morning than usual. Guess they’re all sleeping in?… but missing all of this sunrise beauty!!!
And here I thought yesterday’s sunrise was pretty gorgeous…
but TODAY’s just kept getting better & better!!! With one large cloud-mass covering a lot of the sky… all ready to be swept with some of the most vibrant colors yet!!! Sure, it was cool, sure it was windy… but I got to see THIS!!!
And some amazing waves “caught” in the beam of light from the headlight on my helmet…
which I had kind of forgotten was even on?!
As we slide right into Labor Day Weekend… it already feels like Fall is upon us. The sunrise is getting later, the weather is getting cooler… and I’ve pulled out the long sleeve jersey! Odd thing though… the water that appeared to have receded yesterday to reveal the shoreline along Ohio Street Beach seemed to be back today?! Strange, right?! It didn’t rain or anything… and I’m pretty sure we didn’t get some crazy one-time tide going out yesterday morning?!
Calm & cool this morning along the Lake.
Oddly refreshing to see the shoreline along Ohio Street Beach again
as the water has finally receded a bit.
Another gorgeous day along the lakefront this morning. So glad the waves have calmed down… and yesterday’s rain has stopped. Back to BEAUTIFUL!!! Like a sweeping oil painting!
Raining this morning… but luckily it was a gorgeous morning yesterday as we all started early down at Monroe Harbor for the start of the Chicago Triathlon. The sky was amazing… but the waves were crazy! So bad, that they cancelled the swim all together… and instead turned it into a Duathlon… run-bike-run! Better safe than sorry… at least we got a wonderful sunrise show as the Chicago Fire Department was there to show off super-neato water-spraying boat!!!
And an IRONIC “no swimming” sign on a Triathlon morning with NO SWIMMING!!!
And an early morning “attempt” at a sunrise selfie for me & Tracy!
