Okay, so it took awhile…
but I finally have all forty… err, thirty-nine… handles attached!

Working on the mugs again… spending some time stamping the geometric patterns! Pretty pleased so far finding out that the new stamps are working well. Making the quantities as requested… plus a few extras “just in case” something happens along the way! Perfect for another MUGSHOT MONDAY!

All thrown… a very productive day!
Forty cylinders thrown to make forty mugs. The commission isn’t quite that large… but they will be soda-fired so I’m making a few “extras” in case some of them don’t turn out so well?! You know how soda-firing is kinda random… I can only “control” so much!

Back to making cylinders… back to making MUGS!!!
My favorite thing to make! Lucky for me, I’m working on a big commission project for a lot of specialty mugs! Here we go…

Front stack loaded… two shelves deep with a lot more pots. Quite a few mugs. You know they’re my favorite thing to make! I love loading the soda kiln… pot by pot, shelf by shelf until it’s full.
Now time to brick up the door… ugh.

So I’ve finally started glazing these combo mugs! Since they’re going to be soda-fired, I pretty much need to just put a liner glaze inside, and then hope that the soda-kiln atmosphere makes all the “magic” happen! They were all dipped in colored flashing slips before bisque firing… so there should be some fun colors when they come back out of the kiln!

So I’ve unloaded the bisque kiln and now I’ve got just a bit of glazing to do. These are more of my new “wheelthrown-handbuilt-combo” mugs. They’re all ready to go… but I might tackle these tomorrow! Seems a little daunting right now?! I’ve got time… my next soda-firing is still a ways away!

So I finished up another batch of stamped mugs tonight… adding the handles in “a bit of a rush” so I could skip out early for some evening ice cream fun with friends!!! Feels good to have the mugs done & under plastic overnight… feels even better to have had my fill of Lickity Split frozen custard!!!

Here we go again…
making more handles… making more MUGS!!!
My favorite thing to make!

Score, slip, attach… repeat, repeat, repeat! You know by now that making mugs is my favorite thing to do in the studio! So today was another good day with another batch assembled.
