We’re nearing the end of the month…
and again, I’m looking for a little inspiration!
Trimming some bowls… and then THIS happened!
A wonderful little spiral of clay that curled around my DiamondCore trimming tool. For only a moment… and then it was cleaned off & back to the trimming at hand!
So I kinda forgot about this bowl… trimmed & under plastic… still a remainder from our first night of SURFACE DECORATION class! We started with an ombre’ blend of green & white slips… which could have been enough. But more is more, right?! So I finally finished it off today with some decorative carving using a P1 curved tip carving tool from DiamondCore Tools. So much better now!
Last night in class, one of my students brought in some cool new pottery tools to play with… more fun from DiamondCore Tools !!!
With her new trimming tool… and one of the NEWEST Extruder Tools! We just had to break open that box and give them a little test drive! Thanks for letting us play with your new toys Kate!
Tonight in my pottery class we tackled berry bowls… I showed them how much fun it is to play with power tools & pottery!!! The little burrs left behind will brush off easily when the bowls are totally dry.
And since I’ve been playing around with textured rollers lately, I thought I would pull this one out that I haven’t used for awhile. Friends gave it to me as a gift… and it appears to be stacked segments that I’m guessing were 3D-printed? All stacked and tightened together on a threaded rod. I forgot how much I loved this basket-weaving effect it makes in the clay!
Some new texture fun just “rolled” into my studio… some new hand rollers from MKM Pottery Tools!!! Can’t wait to give these a quick roll over some clay to see the groovy cool patterns they’re going to make!!!
Getting ready to start trimming a bunch of small saucers… pretty much a little mindless production task. Luckily I love trimming… always have… especially now with my DiamondCore Trimming Tools!
One of my students had a marbled clay bowl that had an uneven footring making it kinda wobbly. So last night I brought my DiamondCore Grinding Disc down to class for Dan to use. Just put it on the wheel, add some water, spin & grind! Instantly took off a layer and leveled the bowl so no more wobbly-wiggles! So Dan can now move forward on glazing!

Another marbled clay class demo… this time with white porcelain & green-stained porcelain! Looking a little blurry after throwing, but as I trimmed the interior & exterior “skin” away you can see the layers & marbled effects. Trimming with my DiamondCore Tools made it easier with their T2 Arc Trimming Tool that has a great curved blade to get inside with ease… worked outside too!
