A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Sure, I probably should have been pricing & packing for tomorrow‘s art fair… but who can pass up a magical evening of musical theater?! Not me. A wonderful production… especially beautiful from our seats in the FRONT ROW!!!

And yes, the orchestra pit was just over-the-railing in front of us!!! So close!

Just saw a slightly “odd” rendition of the classic GUYS AND DOLLS up at
Northwestern University…. this time not all of the GUYS were played by guys,
and not all of the DOLLS were were played by dolls?!

No apparent reason. No updates. No twist. No gender bending rationale.
Even the role of Sky Masterson was played by a female… playing it as a guy…
in men’s clothing… yet with feminine posture & occasional long flowing blonde locks…
when she took her men’s hat off?! Just confusing for those who have never seen
the show before.

I had to do some explaining during intermission!

Another wonderful evening of musical theater! One of my all-time favorites “A Gentleman’s Guide To Love & Murder.“ A murderously witty & wonderful way to celebrate Pam’s birthday… okay, sure… so not everybody lives till the end?! But still great fun at the Porchlight Theatre.

My final night in Frankfurt so I decided to go see a show! And what better show to see in Germany than “CABARET”?! We randomly happened upon The English Theatre during our hike around the Circle Ring… and luckily I snagged a front row seat for the show!!!

Sadly, this crazy cool poster image had nothing to do with the show…
but the stage was cool… part train station, part Kit-Kat Club!!!

Puppets with problems looking for their purpose!
Fifteen years after the original debut of AVENUE Q and those puppets are still struggling & singing!!! Glad we got to see it… as this production at The Mercury Theater closes tonight!

Always impressed by the over-the-top beauty & craftsmanship of The Cadillac Palace Theater. It never ceases to amaze me how they used to build these magnificent buildings… and that somehow a few of them have been saved & restored to their original beauty!

Another great show at the Cadillac Palace Theater… FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
just in time for the holidays?! Well-played with so many classic songs…
I tried my best to not sing too loudly… as I already knew the lyrics
from when we did the show in high school!

Thanks to my friend Pam for the wonderful Christmas gift surprise!!!

And we all know how much I LOVE a good “Sunrise, Sunset”!!!       … get it???

Another wonderful evening of musical theater last night at The Cadillac Palace Theatre. One of my all-time favorite shows with two of my favorite friends. Thanks for a magical night. Hard to believe that “MISS SAIGON” has been around for over twenty-five years now!!!

Sure, it might not be the most up-beat of shows…
but I’ve now seen it a couple times now and I love it more every time!
Even this revival with a few changes of lyrics & new songs.

The evening in the theater starts with this dramatic image on the the stage curtain to set the mood for the amazing show to come.

I’m always in awe of the decorative architectural treatments whenever I visit The Cadillac Palace Theatre. Such amazing craftsmanship… even the amazing dome over the audience with just a hint of hi-tech lighting encroaching.

With Halloween right around the corner, it was a fun night of maniacal musical mayhem with Seymor, Audrey and Audrey 2… at the Drury Lane Theater in Oakbrook.
