And then if you’re going to binge-watch two episodes back-to-back, here’s a few pics from this week’s episode of THE GREAT POTTERY THROW DOWN. This episode is The Quarter Finals with their largest handbuilding project where some get “wet & messy”… as well as a little “wet & fussy” decorative spot challenge of underglaze transfer along the way! And then next week is The Final episode… WHOO-HOO!!!

Kicking off “Survivor Saturday” while I’m working in the studio this morning. Going “Old School Survivor” with Kelly, Sue, Rudy, Gervase, Colleen, Jenna and a very naked Richard Hatch!!! It’s amazing how the show has changed over the past twenty years… and I’ve LOVED every season from the very first five minutes when they were first stranded in Borneo! Got a few episodes to go… but I can’t wait for Sue Hawk’s big blow-up at the final Tribal Council.

This week on the British TV show “The Great Pottery Throwdown”, the contestants were tasked with making 40 handmade tiles in two hours. Their goal was to make enough tiles to tile a small fireplace surround… with a twist of the tiles needing to have some 3-dimensional designs on it. They did the project in two parts… first making the tiles, then they let the tiles stiffen up a bit.. and then back to add the details. Some people struggled with smooth, flat tiles… while others succeeded… and others decided to make their challenge even harder by going to hexagon or triangle tiles! So instead of forty squares, Claire had to make 80 triangles, while Matt went for 102 hexagons!

While their tiles were set aside to dry for awhile to stiffen up, they did a quick Throwdown Challenge… where they had to throw a large terra cotta chimney… by assembling two large cylinders together for the large chimney cylinder.

The contestants received their glazed & finished tiles back from the kiln guy, they had to assemble, install & gorut their fireplace surrounds… and then stand there for judging!!!

Another week of fun on the British TV show “The Great Pottery Throw Down.” This was GREEK WEEK in the pottery studio… with a handbuilding sculpture challenge, and a wheelthrown amphora challenge! So fun to watch these potters working on their projects… many of them so far out of their own comfort zones. Not only with an oversized sculpture challenge… but also with TWO NAKED PEOPLE standing right there just feet away!

Click here to watch episode six of “The Great Pottery Throw Down” on YouTube.

So we started with the Greek sculpture challenge…

I mean, c;mon… who’s not loving some Rainna???

And yes, apparently in Greek sculpture week… size DOES matter!!!

And then switched to the amphora throwing challenge…

Just thirty minutes until the start of SURVIVOR : WINNERS AT WAR!!!
Yes, it’s SEASON FORTY!!!

And I’ve watched every single season… and every episode over the past twenty years!!!

To celebrate the big anniversary, they’re bringing back twenty former Survivor winners to battle once again… and this time they’ve doubled the prize money to TWO million dollars!!! Let the games begin… this is going to be an AMAZING season of Survivor fun.
I’m so excited!!!

And just for the record… I picked Parvati for the win!!!
Yes, I know she always has a HUGE target on her back. I get it.
She’s a strong player and they’re all afraid of her cunning ways.
But she is my favorite Survivor player ever… EVER!!!
So how could I turn my back on her now?! I’m loyal to the end…

GO PARVATI !!!

Another week of pottery fun on “The Great Pottery Throw Down”
this time very illuminating & illustrative! Plenty of wheelthrowing which I could watch forever… but let’s just say there were some people struggling, some bisque explosions & some poor design choices! Good TV for all !!!

For those of you who have been enjoying the projects that my LILLSTREET THROWDOWN class has been making… be sure to watch the newest episode of The Great Pottery Throw Down! It’s the inspiration for our class… although I can guarantee that we won’t be tackling raku firing as they did this week on the TV Show!
