Kickin’ off my Labor Day Holiday with another sunrise bike ride… shocker, right?! It was a serene & pastoral start to the ride, but ended with a dramatic clouded sky show! Happy Labor Day everyone!!!… even if it is the “official” end of Summer. 🙁

Yesterday’s ride had another dark start… as I needed to get home earlier than normal. The clouds were hanging low on the horizon, and I began to wonder if we would ever see the sun. It took awhile… but it was well worth the wait!!!

A dark & chilly start to the day… felt like Fall with long sleeves added to my morning! Lots of crashing waves to kick it off… with fun “illuminated” waves once the sun made it over the horizon!

Unfortunately, there was another “surprise” on the bike trail too…
scroll to the end to see what it was!!!

Well, THIS is not the best place to park a car… nor is it supposed to be upside-down!!! And while I’m at it… maybe it would have been better if it had stayed on Lake Shore Drive which is just behind the car past the grassy knoll.

Quiet & breezy with low-flying clouds. The sunrise is getting later & later as we’re now into September. So that means more & more of my early morning ride is in darkness!

So the art fair didn’t start until 10:00am this past weekend… so that gave me “plenty” of time to go for a bike ride beforehand, right?! I mean, when you kick-off your morning with this kind of amazing natural beauty… it’s gotta be a great day, right?!!! So I got up early, pedaled along the lakefront as usual… then rushed home, showered, changed, and drove out to Glenview for Day Two of ART IN THE GARDEN!

Clear skies without a lot of sunrise drama…
but it was the lake that was providing a lot of splish-splashing fun!!!
Timing is everything!

Quiet & serene… no real clouds in the sky, no real waves on the lake. Just some beautiful sunrise reflections…. and a surprise sunrise proposal that I just happened to stumble upon! I was wondering why there were more people than usual “just hanging out” at Montrose for the sunrise this morning… several of them “hiding” in the wildflower area with cameras pointed at the couple sitting in chairs… and not the sunrise???

Oh yeah… and about that surprise engagement.
The guy had obviously set it up with his friends to hide in the weeds to capture photographs of the actual engagement… thus the hiding in the flowers! And here’s the happy couple…

Not a cloud in the sky, just some low-flying haze off in the distance. Pretty quiet today… a few waves crashing… but no noise from the cars on Lake Shore Drive as it is still closed down overnight to limit access to the downtown area since the recent looting riots!!! Oddly quiet until the road that parallels the lakefront bike trail re-opens at 6:00am.

Dark & moody at the start.
Beautiful sunrise just like art.
Another wonderful day riding my bike.
Just like every other morning I like.

Cute, huh?
Okay… so I never claimed to be a poet.
