This morning was crisp & clear.
Not a cloud in the sky. Not a very colorful sunrise. Sure it was orange.. but…

Good thing the roads & trails were even more splashed with color! Apparently there was another one of those darn “color runs” yesterday. I blame the “Amazing Race” TV show. A couple seasons ago they sent the contestants to India where they participated in the Holi Festival – India’s Festival of Colors. Holi celebrates the victory of good over evil, and commemorates the burning of the demoness Holika. The festival also signifies the end of Winter and hopes for the upcoming spring harvest. The summer after the Indian festival was show on TV, these crazy “color runs” started popping up everywhere. Again… I “blame” the “Amazing Race.” And yet I love it… so thank you!!!

And today we’re left with some powdered residue, tie-dyed pavements and some trees that have changed color prematurely. All we need now is a good rain to wash it all away!

Day Two on the “new bike.”
And so much better with normal shoes. No slipping. No sliding.
Still kinda weird trying to figure out where my feet are supposed to “hit” on the pedals?!
With my real shoes on my “real” bike, I click right into place right away.
Who knew that going back to “old school” would be so tough?

And the sunrise was pretty nice too. Even if I was more focused on my feet?!

Seems like it’s been raining for weeks. Okay, slight exaggeration.
I’m tired of gray & gloomy... but I couldn’t wait any longer.

I couldn’t wait any longer to ride my NEW BIKE!!!
Okay, it’s not really “mine”… but just the same.
I got a new bike to ride during our upcoming “glitter gig” in Dover, Delaware. And I’ve been wanting to get some miles on it before we pack it on the truck to ship it out East.

When I got up this morning, the roads were wet which generally sends me back to bed. But like I said, I couldn’t wait any more. So I hopped on the bike for its first maiden voyage.

Sure, I wore the wrong shoes… my real bike shoes had nothing to clip into?!
Sure, I realized there’s no water bottle… luckily, the drinking fountains are back on.
Sure, I was not excited about getting the brand new bike wet & grimy…
but it had to happen sometime, right?!

Not only did the bike get christened with it’s first ride this morning.
But I also got “christened” by some more rain during the last few miles of my ride!

The lake was loud and I was layered.
With a chill in the air and a strong wind blowing south, the lake was quite choppy…
and I was forced to put all of the layers back on once again.

When I got up this morning it was already warm & steamy. The air was thick… and I was instantly sweaty. Everything seemed heavy, including the sunrise & clouds on the horizon.

Later, when I got home, I heard a radio newscaster refer to the morning weather as “soupy”?!!!
Seemed oddly fitting.

With such great cloud cover this morning, it felt like we were destined to have a great sunrise. It was either going to go one of two ways. A beautiful splash of color across the clouds… or no sun at all if it’s hidden by the clouds. Turns out we got a splash!!!

Then suddenly, in a matter of minutes, the orange sky transformed to golden hues with dramatic dark clouds ever encroaching.

And then the clouds won out, and then beautiful sky show dissipated back into gray.

Kinda like yesterday, the morning sky was clouded… but in a good way today.

One large mass of clouds sweeping across the sky ready for the color to splash across. Everchanging as the clouds dissipated while the sun came up.

Once the sun was over the horizon, it quickly ducked behind the clouds as they continued to break up and dissipate across the sky. GIving even more edges for the sun to highlight.

After a few days in Dover, Delaware… it was great to be back home and back in my bike.
The weather was clear & warm. Unlike the last two days of gloomy rain we had in Dover.

As the sun continued to rise, the colors were quite vibrant. Layers of oranges & reds.
All awaiting for the sun to finally make an appearance on the horizon.

And when it finally did, there was a beautiful reflection across the water.

And

After I turned around and started back home, I did catch a glimpse of the sun through the trees. And it almost looked like a beautiful sunset. That is if I wasn’t keenly aware of which direction I was facing?!… and which way the sun went?!

It was a wonderful “Sunday Surprise” with great clouds blowing across the horizon this morning. They started kind of stacked & splotchy, then very angular across the sky… and ended with a crazy cool cloud formation floating high in the sky!

And then a whole new cloud decided to move into the picture…

Another beautiful morning with sweeping pastels across the sky.
Quiet. Ethereal. And a lot warmer than normal. Finally.
