Stamping… leaving an impression…
or two, or three, or more in the porcelain!
Starting the New Year with another batch of NEW stamps!!! Looking forward to getting back into the studio more now that we’ve “survived” the holiday season… and beginning to look forward to the Summer Art Fair season!!!
Still throwing. Still stamping.
Another vase and that one stamp that did all of the tough work!
And a detail of the freshly stamped surface… still a bit wet, and waiting for a little clean-up!
Is there such a thing as TOO MANY options when trying to decorate a simple bowl???
I don’t think so!
Came into the studio last night to find that my overhead studio light has decided to completely stop working!!! So today I’m trying to get a lot done with some dramatic “mood” lighting… and will be until the fixture gets fixed!!!
Last night was only the second class of our new session of wheelthrowing classes at Lillstreet… and my students killed it when they made their first batch of mugs!!! Two classes and they’ve already made MUGS!!! And then we ended class with a little stamp-making too… so maybe their “next” mugs will have some stamped textures??? We can only hope, right?
Yesterday was the last day of Wheelthrowing Camp. Some kids finished decorating & glazing earlier than others. I offered to let them handbuild with terra cotta for awhile… and for the first time EVER, one of them asked if I could show them how to make their own stamps!!! What?… of course I can. Potential prodigy?
This week in class I did a “demo-on-demand” on how to throw plates. Sure, I could have left my demo plain, but what fun is that?! Always better after a bit of stamping!
And the stamp that did most of the work…
It’s another week of Summer Camp and my wheelthrowers are working hard on their new pots. It’s so much fun to see them working so intently as they decorate their pieces… some with stamps (go figure) and colored slip accents!
