A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

The collaboration projects for ART IN THE GARDEN are coming along quite nicely. Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the beautiful silver necklace pendants that Amy Taylor has made using some of my textured clay pieces as cabachons. I just hope she doesn’t confuse a ridged chip with one of my pieces as she’s snacking & working at the same time?!!! Either direction would be a bad mistake!

After this morning’s sunrise bike ride, I swung by the studio to unload one last kiln for this weekend’s ART IN THE GARDEN. And I was quite pleased with these large bowls. These green glazes worked perfectly with the stamping… pooling, breaking & running in all the right places! Can’t wait to show these off and to send a few off to good homes… maybe with a little add-on thanks to my “cohort in crime” Cory McCrory!!!

One of the things I love about Cory McCrory is her whimsical nature, her quirky style and her ability to see the bright side. Offering up a rainbow or two to brighten your day… come see them this weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN when they become part of our collaboration project!

So my friend & co-collaborator Cory McCrory has busy been doing her part…
maybe the storms passing through have influenced her work?
It will all come together next weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN.
Looks like maybe she’ll be a big dip, and I’ll be a chip off the old block?!!

So we’re just two weeks away from ART IN THE GARDEN – one of the “funnest” art shows of my season! We get to play in the backyard with friends & talented artists… and even better?… we get to do some fun collaborations with our friends! I have a couple in the works… including my friend Cory McCrory who has added some blue flourishes to the postcard…

“Hey Cory, I thought I said dips, not DRIPS???”

We’re just one month away from ART IN THE GARDEN.
A wonderful grassroots art fair with a few of my favorite artist friends!
So much fun in a more intimate setting where you actually get to chat with the artists, hang out and relax in the backyard garden. Even better… there are several collaboration projects in the works ONLY for this show! Artist friends working together & sharing their talents to make some one-of-a-kind works of art.

Mark your calendars… September 8th & 9th in Glenview, Illinois.

A quiet morning with great sunrise potential. I expected some amazing colors on the early cloud cover… but instead, the clouds blew out of the way too soon. And all we were left with was a big red ball reflecting in the ripples. Still not too shabby. And now back to Day Two of the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR!!!
