Playing with textures & patterns again… with another batch of “hybrid mugs” fresh out of the soda kiln! I’ve really loved exploring the combination of wheelthrown & handbuilt parts & pieces… and how they come together into one seamless mug… or in this case, several mugs!!! Many of these hybrid mugs will be with me this weekend at the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR! Come on by to see them & fondle them in person!
I was awe-struck by how saturated the reds were on these day lilies. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a vibrant & saturated RED before! Crazy beautiful…
Quiet reflections rippling on the lake. A wonderful morning with cooler temperatures, lower humidity & no smoky haze… such a great way to start the morning.
Always fun to see some of my new “hybrid mugs” thriving out in the wild… enjoying a picnic on the back porch somewhere out in the woods!!! “Hybrid” being a combination of wheelthrown & handbuilt parts… along with some amazing textures made with my MKM Pottery Tools hand rollers!
Looks like the purple shamrocks on my back porch are pretty happy again this summer!
Fresh from the soda-kiln… a few more of the new mugs that came out of the kiln last weekend. Loving the colors, textures & random flashing effects. Just in time for the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR next weekend… and perfect for today’s MUGSHOT MONDAY!
The trumpet vine flowers are finally blooming…
and climbing the bricked corner of Lillstreet Art Center!
You know I love a good national holiday… and would feel remiss if I didn’t celebrate appropriately! Especially when today is NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!!!
Rode past a large patch of hollyhocks today… which for some reason always remind me of my Grandma Kitty?! Beautiful flowers clustered on tall stalks… and a great pollinator as the bees were flitting from flower to flower as I watched.
So when I checked it early this morning, my weather app said clear & sunny for the sunrise… they lied.
Okay… so there might have been a little message about poor air quality that I “may have” overlooked… as it seems like the smoke from the Canadian wildfires has blown back into town again?!
