Just pulling out another batch of reclaimed clay. This time it’s a huge batch of slaked-down porcelain that I turned out onto my large plaster bat. All scraps from another potter friend who doesn’t like to reclaim clay. But I sure do!!! It’s going to take a few days before it sets-up enough that I can start wedging it. A lot of work & waiting… but then again, you know how much I LOVE FREE CLAY!!!
Today was the third day of my Wheelthrowing Summer Camp…
and the kids trimmed their pots, decorated, added handles, slip-painted…
and “allegedly” may have done a tiny bit of stamping for fun textures!
Last night we kicked-off the Lillstreet Summer session of pottery classes with my Tuesday night Beginning & Advanced Beginning Wheelthrowing class. Once again I have a great group… can’t wait to see where the next ten weeks takes us… and of course we had to kick it off with some yummy chocolate goodness!
Good thing I pedaled BEFORE class…
After teaching Summer Camp yesterday, I got to sneak in a quick 36-mile bike ride before coming back to teach my night class. You know I “had to” take advantage of the nice weather… as the next few days don’t look so good. Very cool to see that one big cloud hanging low & hovering amidst the Chicago Skyline.
After two days at the pottery wheel, my Summer Campers were cranking out some nice pots… trying to stay focused, elbows down, arms locked in, fingers steady, centering their clay… and eventually making a LOT of pots!!!
This is my first week back at Lillstreet Summer Camp!
And my kids are having a wonderful time and making some pretty sweet pots
in Wheelthrowing Camp! Goopey messy fun!!! WHOO-HOO!!!
Mist-covered spiderwebs along the harbor fence yesterday…
dripping droplets of water glistening along the spider’s stringy web.
Yesterday morning was gray & dreary…
with a lot of misty fog hanging low along the lake. It wasn’t raining…
but I was SOAKED by the time I got home from my morning bike ride!
And yes, somewhere back there in the fog “should be” the Chicago Skyline!!!
Along with some overflowing lake edges… the water level should be about a foot below the cement edge.
So not only are DiamondCore Tools wonderful for sharp, clean carving lines… they’re also great for some of us klutzy potters who may have “allegedly” squished & bent one of my blades… of course, on my favorite V-tip tool. Good thing is, they also offer replacement blades for their carving tools! Just a quick turn of a screw, switch it out, and you’re good to start carving again!!! Thank You DiamondCore!!!
So I was just driving home from the studio, when I received a text message from PNC Bank saying that my account was locked and I needed to log-in to verify & secure my account. And then just three minutes later, I drive to where my local TCF Bank is at the Jewel-Osco only to find it is surrounded by police cars… apparently the bank has been robbed or something? Crazy odd coincidence??? Now I’m pretty sure I don’t even have a PNC account. But I called the phone number just to double-check and she said it was a completely fraudulent text that was sent to me. And that it just must be some crazy, wacky coincidence that TCF is surrounded by cop cars at the same time?! We serve & protect. Yes please, protect my MONEY!
