It’s always a wonderful sign when the lifeguard chairs are returned to the lakefront beaches. A wonderful harbinger of Summer… and the fact that Chicago’s beaches official open on Monday!

“El Corazon de la Bestia” / Heart of the Beast
Environments have defined us as humans and individuals. The experiences in these environments shape us internally. Because of this, we are busy building masks for society and we don’t always show or share who we really are at our core. We judge people by these masks, and not for who and what makes up the Beast inside them. Good or Bad we all have a Beast within us. Our Heart shows who it is.

It’s been a crazy couple-a weeks!!! SO busy in the studio getting ready for the kick-off of my Summer Art Fair season. Three kilns this week alone!!! Needless to say, I have so many things to post & share. But I have to get through this weekend first… and then I’ll try to catch everyone up. Here’s my show schedule… which starts this weekend in Schaumburg!!! Would love to have you stop by to see some of my new pottery!!!

Categories: kiln firing, pottery, soda-fired, stamped

Unloaded my soda kiln last night. Lots of bright colors…
not all browns & grays much to the chagrin of my soda students.
See, a soda firing CAN be colorful!

Now to pack it all up for this weekend’s art fair in Schaumburg!

After a crazy busy weekend of glazing, loading and firing my soda kiln… as well as glazing & firing a cone 6 kiln… and throwing a whole new batch of flower pots that I hope to get done before next weekend… it felt GREAT to have a few moments of sunrise solitude on my bike this morning before getting back at it!!! And yes, I “promise” to post more pictures from this weekend soon… I was too busy to post, let alone sleep!
