Pretty little porcelain… stamped & soda-fired mugs for Mugshot Monday!
Chicago flag created by the students at Lane Tech High School using laser cutters, 3D cutters & 3D printers. Each student in the LT Makers group designed & created their own “tile” as part of the overall “flag.” Each tile representing “something-Chicago” in a topographical form to make up this really cool Chicago flag being displayed at Navy Pier!
Did a bit of “touch-up” on some of my friend’s wheelthrown pots!
They were all brand new beginners that stopped by my studio one night last week for a “quick” visit. I think they expected it to be a little sightseeing tour of the studio… but I quickly turned it on them by telling them that “pottery is NOT a spectator sport.” They rolled up their sleeves and threw a few pots… okay, so I made a few demo pots as well. So now they’re drying in my studio, waiting to be bisqued… and then I need to glaze them all with the correct pre-specified glaze choice for each pot!!! Oye-veh!
It’s a New Year and I’m still cleaning up a bit from last year…
taking care of some clay that got a bit too dry.
So I cut it thin, squished it flat, and bent it up so the pile would dry quickly.
Tonight I pulverized it a bit to make it easier to reclaim the clay.
So for now everything is in my reclaim bucket saturated with water.
And while the “real show” is on the stage, the rest of the Oriental Theater interior is pretty spectacular too! Lots of over-the-top ornate decor with amazing old-school craftsmanship everywhere you look!
After years of hype, I finally made it to WICKED last night… and it did NOT disappoint. The production was amazing, and the story & songs were so much better developed than I expected. It’s not just a kids show. Quite a few clever twists along the way as you learn so much more about the Witches of Oz!!! Loved it… so why did I wait so long???
The show was amazing. The staging, the lights, the proscenium, and the voices were spectacular… chills… and hairs standing up on my arms!!! Everything was just mesmerizing!!!
As we kiss 2017 goodbye, and a big hello to 2018…
it’s a great chance to reflect on some of our pottery fun from INSTAGRAM.
My 2017 goal was to double my Instagram Posts & Likes from 2016.
I fell just a smidge short of the doubled-posts goal, but nearly tripled my Likes… WHOO-HOO!!!
So don’t forget that you can always follow here on Facebook,
but there’s even more visual fun on INSTAGRAM too!!!

Yep, that’s one of my resolutions. Thank you all for the ongoing support & encouragement throughout the years. You’re the best groupies ever!!!
It’s that time of the year… time to kiss another one good bye, reflect on the past year and gear up for another one starting soon!!! Have fun tonight, whoop it up and by all means be safe!!!
A chilly, but beautiful, afternoon for a serene winter stroll along a semi-frozen creek on my way out to another family holiday gathering. Plenty of blue sky and quietly trickling water.
