Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Okay, so I may have gotten a little reckless with the glazing of this berry bowl. The lime glaze did a bit of running & sealed up a few of the drainage holes. Sue me!

But I figure someone might still love it… especially when they realize it might make a nice stained glass window at the same time?! Double-duty pottery?

Who knows, I might be onto something here???

The sun is shining and it looks like great weather for Day Two of the HINSDALE FINE ARTS FESTIVAL. We’ll all be in Burlington Park in downtown Hinsdale from 10:00am-5:00pm. I’m restocking the shelves, so there will be plenty of pottery for everyone… including more berry bowls which look like they’re really having fun playing in the sun this morning. C’mon by… I’m in Booth #69 under a great shade tree where the cooling breezes are!

Another bright spot this morning… sure, I’m supposed to be setting up for Hinsdale Day Two… was this sunshiny yellow hibiscus that just caught my eye! Stunning in every natural detail.

Well, I got to Hinsdale a bit early this morning ready to set-up for Day Two of the HINSDALE FINE ARTS FESTIVAL. And I did a little “photo shoot” of the Robert Frost sculpture sitting in the center of the park by the fountain. Such a great sculpture with such detail & emotion as he now sits forever writing in Burlington Park.

So while Chandler has always been my favorite on FRIENDS…
could he BE any funnier?… or should we say Miss Chanandler Bong???

I will say that a VERY close second place goes to Chandler’s girlfriend Janice! I was so excited that she made her way onto the FRIENDS REUNION special too! Love her… and that annoying nasal laugh!

It was so great to see so many friends today at the HINSDALE FINE ARTS FAIR. Its been far too long… my artists friends, my customer friends, my “regular” friends! So great to finally see smiling faces and not just eyes & foreheads. So it seemed only fitting that tonight I should watch THE FRIENDS REUNION while I relaxed at home & had dinner. We’ve waited a long time to see this come together… and I LOVED it. Well worth the wait. So sweet. Very touching. True friends. Funny moments. Great memories.

So here’s my question… Who was your favorite FRIEND and why??

We had a wonderful day at the HINSDALE FINE ARTS FESTIVAL today. Incredible weather, nice shade, sweet breeze… and a great booth neighbor to play with! I’ve know Rhonda Gurgone for a couple years now from the art fair circuit… but we’ve never gotten quite this much time to hang out together. If you happen to swing by the fair tomorrow, be sure to pop in to say “Hi”, She makes great jewelry pieces out of vintage & historical buttons. You can tell that she loves what she does… and LOVES sharing the stories behind every button!!!!

Still prepping… still packing for the Hinsdale Fine Art Fair!!! Currently working on some new ikebana flower vases. A simple & clever way to display just a few flowers and yet make a sweet floral statement. There’s a water reservoir and a pin frog under the ceramic disc… kinda “framing” the flowers while allowing them to stand gracefully above the center!
