Just a couple mugs after last night’s class. It’s only their second week of the session…
and a couple of them already have mugs! Me too… with a couple demo pieces!!!

Lots of cloud-cover this morning… with a smidge of sunrise peeking through.
It’s supposed to clear up & get warmer today… we’ll see… promises, promises…

Gotta love when you pull the kiln door away… and it reveals a lot of “soda-shiny” & colorful pots!!!
Big sigh of relief to see beautiful pots… another successful soda firing!

I’ll take this as a good sign.
A “perfect” cone ten! Finally cool enough to start unloading… more to come!!!

You gotta love when you go to start teaching class… and you find a surprise gift on your Teacher Shelf! A crazy cool flavor combination from a foreign land! I have the best students… thanks so much Monse!

Hope you’re having a great day with family or friends… or just outside enjoying the Spring weather!!! We did a family get-together and my niece Taylor made these yummy “birds nests” with marshmallows, peanut butter & Cadbury chocolate eggs!!! Perfect on a spring green platter!!!

After about three hours last night, I finally had my pots carefully stacked in the kiln. Trying hard to get as many pots squeezed in… while not packing it too tight. There needs to be some “space” between the pots for the soda atmosphere to work its way through to “glaze” the pots with soda build-up.

So I put the bottom shelves back in the kiln… a great place to start.
Then last night I stacked my pots into the kiln… shelf by shelf… brick by brick… pot by pot.

My studio cart was filled with glazed & wadded pots… ready for a soda-firing!
We all made it safely downstairs in the rickety freight elevator.
Thanks to some masking tape “seat belts” to keep pots from bouncing off
the shelves during the journey downstairs!

Last night I was greeted with an empty kiln… full of possibilities…
ready to be filled with pots for another soda firing!
