Sure, we might have a dangerous ice & sleet storm headed our way tonight with big weather advisories going on… but the second stalk on my amaryllis is in full bloom so at least it seems like Spring “might” be on its way at home?!

Welcome Home!!! It feels so good to be home…
and even better to have made it through The Polar Vortex!!!
Such a great feeling to be able to get outside again to see nature at it’s best as it all begins to thaw… and I think I’m beginning to thaw as well?!!!

It kind of amazes me every time how the “weather” appears to change so drastically
when you finally get up above the clouds! Gray & gloomy below…
and a beautiful sunset happening up above!!!

Now just a few more hours of flying in night time darkness!

FREEZING COLD!!!… and yet another strikingly beautiful morning! Another wonderful gift from Mother Nature. It wasn’t until I got home “freezing cold” that I realized the temperature was actually well-below the freezing point!!! Not enough layers for that!!!

Frozen icicles refracting the sunlight streaming through.
A beautiful sunrise moment.

Beautiful biking along the Lake with some AMAZING icicles along the water’s edge. I love how so many of the icicles are hanging like fringe on angles from being frozen during chilling winds off the Lake.

Sure, the fog & sunrise was beautiful this morning… but the frosted leaves were pretty amazing too! I love how the frost accentuated all of the veins & stems of the leaves… and the muted medley of colors in the frozen fall leaves.

What better way to start MUD & METAL Day Two than with a pre-show bike ride
along the Lake?! Amazing amounts of fog & frost abound… probably not the safest time
to be riding in the dark, but it sure what gorgeous!!! And when the sun finally made
its way through…. it got even gorgeous-ER!!!

After the rain at Ravinia, it was nice to have clouded skies WITHOUT the rain today! A moment of free-time to hangout on my bike along the lakefront… and taking a quick break at Montrose Harbor.
