Halloween is getting closer… and the Ghouls are coming out!
Here’s Taylor’s collection from over the years.

Many of them have been “retired” from The Ghouls Collection.
But I still have a lot of fun Ghouls to share, as well as the newest Pumpkin Patch I’ve been working on. So watch for more details about “A GHOULISH POP-UP SALE” to be held on my Fire When Ready Pottery Facebook page in the next few days!!!

My friend Julie has been making yummy caramel apples! Melt, dip, cool… some get bubbles… and she pointed out the “similarity” to my pumpkins with warts!!! I see it… TOO FUNNY!!!

And if you happen to be anywhere in Central Illinois… you can get these yummy caramel apples at MAURIE’S CANDY SHOP in Eureka! It’s a great candy shop serving sweets & helping the developmentally disabled with a place for them to work & learn life skills. Say “Hi” to my college friends & sweet shop owners Keith & Julie while you’re there stocking up on some sweets!

My pumpkin patch is quickly coming to life! Some of them have gotten a splash of color… while some are staying a bit more “natural.” Always fun to see these little guys smiling back at you in the studio!

Well, somehow it’s already October 1st… and it looks like the Ghouls are making their way out! My friend Beckie pulled out her Ghoul Collection to start the festive mood all over her home. Werewolves, witches & bats… oh my!

Makes me think that I need to pull together a quick online Facebooks sale to offer up more Halloween Ghouls… including pumpkins, bats, spiders, werewolves and this year’s addition to the collection… Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skulls!!! More info to come…

So it was a productive afternoon in the studio playing with pumpkins! Each one getting a little personality of its own… quirky little smiles, shifty eyebrows of warts or maybe even a little cowlick of vines & leaves! Next up… some fun color accents to make them pop!

The new harvest of pumpkins is coming to life in my studio! They’re getting faces, warts & some are even getting leaves & vines! It’s also a little bit of “weather-therapy” for me.. to help gradually accept the grim fact that Summer might actually be over?! I’m still hangin’ on…

Now they’re starting to look a bit more like pumpkins… but now they’re gonna need to get some personality… and maybe some warts too?!!! Would love to keep going but I’ve gotta teach class tonight… so the “pumpkinizing” will continue tomorrow!

So it was a VERY late night in my studio last night as I was underglazing colors & dots all over the sugar skulls long after Summer Camp. And then a very early return to the studio as I needed to get all of them glazed in the spray booth with a low-fire clear glaze and load them into the kiln BEFORE Summer Camp started this morning! Accomplished with just minutes to spare.

So for now, the kiln is on and my fingers are crossed… as I hope they all turn out great and make a big splash this weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview.

Introducing the newest addition to THE GHOULS COLLECTION. Traditionally making their appearance at Art In The Barn in September. But instead, this year they’re coming to ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend!!! They’re a limited edition of forty pieces… and when they’re gone, they’re gone!!! Colorful & festive with plenty of personality. Each one different from the next.

Celebrating Dia De Los Muertos with a colorful smirk and a smile!!!

Once the interiors were painted, it was time to tackle the faces of my newest addition to The Ghouls Collection… aka Calaveras de Azucar!!! Lots of details, lots of colors… lots of time!!! It was a very long evening after a full day of Summer Camp! If all goes as planned, these will be making their “Big Debut” at ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend!!!
