Another amazing hydrangea bush in full bloom… with these wonderful cascading “cones” of white flowers. Not really sure what kind of hydrangea this is?… but I’m pretty sure I “need” one! Perfect for a natural TEXTURE TUESDAY!

Added a few stamped details to this serving bowl.
A textured rim of repetitive stamping to make it a little more special.

All stamped & detailed… and the bowls are all back under plastic until they dry-up a bit more for trimming. Good thing I love trimming too… almost as much as stamping!!!
Almost.

Celebrating TEXTURE TUESDAY with a new batch of stamped discs… soon to be turned into ikebana vases. A perfect way to show-off some of your favorite summer blooms. Coming soon…

Seems simple enough, right?
But it’s really the rusted patina finish that I’m enamored by.
Perfect for another TEXTURE TUESDAY.

Celebrating a little TEXTURE TUESDAY with one of my stamped, soda-fired & handbuilt square vases. I love how the dried allium blossoms work so well with the wavy pattern of the vase. Thanks so much for sharing your vase & flowers with all of us Rhonda!

After yesterday’s crazy storms, it was great to get out today for a bike ride out with blue skies… and a LOT of WIND!!! The head winds for the first half were CRAZY STRONG… but the ride back was glorious! I started at Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles… and head west out into the WIND… did I mention LOTS OF WIND!!!

So I finally got around to trimming these new textured vases. They’ve been under plastic for quite awhile… as I did this demo with my SURFACE DECORATION class a couple weeks ago! We used some of my textured rollers from MKM Pottery Tools to press the pattern into a straight-sided cylinder… and then expanded them while throwing on the wheel. I’m intrigued by where this little texture journey might go… more to come!

As part of tonight’s Stamping Demo on ZOOM, I demonstrated on four different bowls adding a bit of texture & pattern to each of them. Here are the four demo bowls… followed by a few details shots, as well as pictures of the stamps that worked their magic!

Some of my favorite surfaces are the “plain” stamped pieces! Not a ton of bright colors… maybe just a few little pops here & there. It’s more about the soda-firing process creating the surface. But for me it all starts with the STAMPING!!!
And don’t forget… these “teasers” are NOW AVAILABLE in my brand new ETSY Shop! – www.etsy.com/shop/FireWhenReadyPottery

Don’t forget that I will be doing a ZOOM demo this evening at 8:00pm CST live from my studio! You just need to pre-register for the free demos on the Pottery Tour website to get the ZOOM link! – www.northernilpotterytour.com
