They’ve been under wraps for quite awhile now. A new Monster in the mix!
But tonight they finally came out of the the final glaze firing. Yeah!!!
So now these little Monsters are wrapped up, and then wrapped up again in packing materials, and getting ready for their journey to “Art In The Barn” this weekend. This year’s addition to “The Ghouls Collection.” The Mummy.

And he’s got friends… there are more than a dozen of these Mummies… but not two dozen.
Quantities are limited. And once they’re gone, they’re gone! These and the other Monsters – Pumpkins, Skulls, Frankensteins & Vampires!!! And like most “collectibles”… some of these may be “RETIRED” soon! Get ’em quick!!!

This year’s addition to “The Ghoul Collection” has been a well guarded secret. The identity of which I have kept “under wraps” for a few weeks. I was trying to figure out my Ghoul-ish plan. And I didn’t want to share too much until I knew which direction they were going. Well, now they’re all made & drying. So I feel it’s safe to show off the “new ghoul in town” – The Mummy. Sure, I still need to paint them with underglaze, cover them with clear glaze, dry them and fire them. But I still have a couple days before “Art In The Barn.” Plenty of time, huh?… I hope at least…

As with every “ghoul” in the collection, these will be available in Limited Quantities.
When they’re gone, they’re gone!          At least until they rise from the dead again!

Fresh out of the kiln… some of August’s entry in the Ornament Challenge, but this time made with terra cotta clay. The original batch that I made was in stoneware for the soda kiln. I had a little extra time, and a little extra space in my kiln, so I made a few more in terra cotta. So I kind of think these “extra” ornaments should count as bonus points in the Challenge!

But don’t think that’ s it… there are still a LOT of August’s original stoneware stars. Just waiting to be fired in my next soda kiln. If all goes well, this batch will be fired and ready for my Holiday Home Show on November 23rd & 24th. Mark your calendars now!

With a change in the weather, a chilly breeze and wet soggy day… it was the perfect chance to focus on Fall. “Art In The Barn” is just two weeks away. My festive Jack O’Lanterns are dried and waiting for their time in the kiln. So I figured it was time to work on this year’s addition to “The Ghoulish Collection.” In the past we’ve had Pumpkins, Skulls, Frankensteins & Vampires. And while some of these might be “retired” soon… it’s time for a new addition to the collection. So in the next few days, these simple cylinders will be Monster-fied!!!

Tonight I made some small textured terra cotta trays for my latest batch of salt & pepper shakers. They’re drying on a plastic grid with the hope that it will help avoid warping.

Of course the weights I put on top of them will help too!!!

With a little colored underglaze, my little pumpkins really came to life tonight. With green stems and orange warts, these Jack O’Lanterns are ready to start drying.

Resting on an elevated plastic grate to help dry them quicker and more evenly, it’s always fun to see the whole batch of pumpkins smiling back at you!

Next up?…. a quick coat of clear glaze and then a trip into the kiln!
Once fired, all of these pumpkins will be coming with me to “Art In The Barn”
in a couple weeks… September 28th & 29th in Barrington.

We’re one step closer to Jack O’Lanterns… at least now the pumpkins look like pumpkins!!!

Well, looky here… a pumpkin patch popped up in my studio tonight! Soon enough, these pumpkins will be “harvested” to become festive Jack O’Lanterns!
