Well, somehow it’s already October 1st… and it looks like the Ghouls are making their way out! My friend Beckie pulled out her Ghoul Collection to start the festive mood all over her home. Werewolves, witches & bats… oh my!

Makes me think that I need to pull together a quick online Facebooks sale to offer up more Halloween Ghouls… including pumpkins, bats, spiders, werewolves and this year’s addition to the collection… Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skulls!!! More info to come…

Looks like Diane’s eucalyptus plant is enjoying its new home… she picked up the stamped terra cotta pot at ART IN THE GARDEN. And then proceeded to plant her own “garden” at home! Looks happy!

So it was a productive afternoon in the studio playing with pumpkins! Each one getting a little personality of its own… quirky little smiles, shifty eyebrows of warts or maybe even a little cowlick of vines & leaves! Next up… some fun color accents to make them pop!

The new harvest of pumpkins is coming to life in my studio! They’re getting faces, warts & some are even getting leaves & vines! It’s also a little bit of “weather-therapy” for me.. to help gradually accept the grim fact that Summer might actually be over?! I’m still hangin’ on…

Now they’re starting to look a bit more like pumpkins… but now they’re gonna need to get some personality… and maybe some warts too?!!! Would love to keep going but I’ve gotta teach class tonight… so the “pumpkinizing” will continue tomorrow!

Throwing some quick rounded cylinders that will “grow” into pumpkins as they move through the process! I made a few different sizes… including some smaller ones, as smaller is sometimes cuter! And who doesn’t like a “cute” pumpkin???

Getting ready to “grow”… errr, throw… some new pumpkins in my studio today! Starting with some terra cotta… getting ready to make a fun & muddy mess today!

Looks like Sarah and I are not the only ones doing a little re-planting… Diane bought a terra cotta flower pot at ART IN THE GARDEN specifically for her eucalyptus plant. Looks great, looks happy in its new home… but I must admit, I don’t know that I’ve EVER seen a living eucalyptus plant.
Odd… they’re always dried bundles?!

So it was a VERY late night in my studio last night as I was underglazing colors & dots all over the sugar skulls long after Summer Camp. And then a very early return to the studio as I needed to get all of them glazed in the spray booth with a low-fire clear glaze and load them into the kiln BEFORE Summer Camp started this morning! Accomplished with just minutes to spare.
So for now, the kiln is on and my fingers are crossed… as I hope they all turn out great and make a big splash this weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview.
