So what if it’s only single-digit cold outside?! It was still a beautiful opportunity to “run-hike-walk” along the lakefront this morning. Still a lot of snow… some of it shoveled, some of it slushy, some of it icy! No good for biking… and a bit treacherous slipping & sliding with every step. Sometimes plunging into snow up to my knees!!!

A big morning sunrise along the lake… lots of “glaciers & icebergs” along the lakefront! Big sky mornings require BIG panoramic photos… especially if you still want to get the skyline in the photo!!!

With a prediction of more snow today, I thought I “needed” to get out this morning before the snow! With a beautiful morning hike along the frozen lakefront and a BEAUTIFUL sunrise splash of color before it went behind the clouds… seemingly for the rest of the day!

So it was a little on the freezing side this morning… too cold & too much snow & ice for biking! Not too cold for a brisk morning hike though. Low-flying clouds delayed the sunrise through ice-covered branches!

Still a ton of clouds in Chicago, but for a fleeting moment…
the sun made an appearance this morning! Brief though it was.

And expected to get even windier as the day goes on!!! Let’s just say, my morning ride towards the City was tough!!! Some cool clouds & crashing waves… and then the ride back home was AMAZING with an incredible tail-wind!!!

It was a dark start to the morning, without a lot of potential… or so I thought. But soon enough the clouds opened a bit and the colored sky show began to impress.

Another chilly morning with wispy clouds breezing across the sky. Always fun to find icicles frozen along the way… suspended in time, waiting to melt as the sun rises to thaw the day.

Sure, it was a bit chilly this morning… a couple degrees below freezing! But I was so excited to see open sky for a change, instead of the solid gray mornings we’ve been having lately! So you just put on more layers and go for it!!! And when THIS happens… it’s all worth it!!!

It started out pretty nice with some good sunrise potential this morning. But as the sun began to rise, there was a hazy fog hanging over the City. My guess is the sun won’t last too long today… especially with a forecast for rain later today!
