A spectacular sunrise this morning was the perfect present to start off the day!

It was a beautiful morning – very warm, very sunny & very orange!

Indigo water. Orange sunrise. Blue sky…. and beautiful silhouettes!

Another beautiful splash of color & shadow as the sunrise breaks across
Belmont Harbor… creating beautiful silhouettes of the few boats remaining in the water.

After a wonderful weekend up in the Wisconsin Northwoods with my friend Amy Higgason,
it felt great to be back home and back in the saddle again. And what a wonderful sunrise
this morning. Albeit chilly, dark & damp… stunning nonetheless!!!

It started out very dark with an incredible “angle” of cloud cover… and a moon still showing…
slashing across the sky and changing through all the shades of indigo & blues.

And then the sun peeked out of the horizon, the sky lit up as the clouds began to dissipate.
And created a wonderful “impressionistic” splash across the sky.

It was a brisk start to the morning ride.
Fifty-four degrees, double layer of sleeves and full-fingered gloves!
Far cry from the sleeveless jerseys I’ve been wearing all summer and  just last week.
I guess Fall is officially here with a vengeance!

Although it was a beautiful sunrise once the clouds cleared and the sun finally
broke through. Pay no attention to the huge “impending-doom-sort-of-cloud-cover”…
Luckily, it was clearing out and making way for the stunning sunrise!

After a couple days of cloudy skies, it was nice this morning to be back to
blue skies, wispy clouds and a stunning sunrise. Back to beautiful.

The morning started out very gray and gloomy. Clouds everywhere.
Above. Behind. All around. Even out over the lake. Not much hope for a sunrise.
But then with the wind blowing in from the west, the clouds dispersed just as the
sun was ready to peek out. And for a moment, the sunrise was quite beautiful.

Minutes later though, as I was almost done pedaling home… you could see the next
wave of storm clouds moving in. The sunrise was short-lived, and the rain began
shortly after I got home.

And how dramatically a sunrise can change in just a matter of minutes…
