It seems SO long since we’ve seen a good sunrise.
I get up each morning, step out on the back porch… and if it’s raining
I head back to bed. No need to ride in the rain if you don’t need to!
But today… finally a rain-free morning & a beautiful sunrise bike ride!

After a long weekend of standing around at the art fair chatting & selling…
it was nice this morning to get up for a leisurely… err, okay… fast ride down the
lakefront. The early morning glow had a beautiful, yet slightly ominous tone.

Followed by a huge “blanket” of clouds that seemed to envelop the sky.
Very dramatic… yet very serene… as the sun seemed to disappear into the sky.

The morning was so beautiful in its awakening. Such incredible shades of purples & blues,
slowing to changing to pinks & oranges. The sky was ablaze in stunning colors…
it was practically impossible to take a bad photo. The morning was picture perfect!

Sadly, the amazing show of color only lasts a few minutes each morning. As the sun begins
to crest on the horizon, the sky turned more blue… and the sun was just about ready to “pop”
over the edge. Beautiful every step of the way…

And then the sun came up… the colors dispersed and the sky lit up.
And I was finally back on the bike to finish my ride… pedal… pedal… pedal…
pedaling fast to make up for the time I spent shooting pictures.

So there I was…

reveling in the beautiful morning…

enjoying another fantastic sunrise…

cruising along minding my own business…

taking curves at a pretty good clip…

maybe going a little bit faster than I should be…

having fun…

when all of a sudden… imagine my SURPRISE!!!

Say it isn’t so… but we may have just broken a new record for THIS Spring?!
We have two days of sun in a row!!! Two, I say… count them TWO!!! In a ROW!!!

After a very rainy weekend in the park… it was great to see the sun finally
yesterday and again this morning! I hope that it’s here to stay for awhile?!
But it is Chicago… so who knows…

Finally?… a little sun on the horizon!
Plus, it’s a good sign that the lifeguard stands are finally “out-of-storage”
and back on the beaches!!! Another step closer…

But then… when I got downtown, part of it was gone!
There was this wonderful morning fog rolling in off the lake
making part of the skyline disappear! Very cool.

The sunrise this morning was the best we’ve had in weeks.
I’m hoping that Spring is finally here… no more freezing mornings!
It was actually warm enough to take off the tights today!
Let’s hope it stays that way…

After a wonderful weekend of pottery fun & camaraderie…
and a really long drive back Sunday evening… it felt great to be back
in the saddle again this morning. With a beautiful sunrise to boot.
