A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

What started as a very dark morning turned into a vibrant pink display in the sky.
It was tough to keep pedaling… as I felt like I had to keep stopping for more photos
as the sky continued to change every few minutes!!!

With an incredible blue sky start to the morning, there was a “promise”
of a beautiful sunrise to follow… and it come to fruition about a half hour later!

The storms continued this morning… luckily, on the other side of the lake!
So the sunrise was very striking… lots of clouds, lots of colors, lots of LIGHTNING!!!

As I continued south, the sky lightened up a bit… and the sky turned a beautiful
shade of blue with very dramatic clouds blowing through. And I especially love how
you can see the rain actually falling across the lake.

So there I was, pedaling south… cruising around the corners, watching the “sky show”
all around me. There was a lot of debris on the path from last night’s hail storm. Lots of
leaves, twigs, branches and TREES!!! Yep… there were trees down covering the bike path!

And then… after all of the “obstacles”… the sky continued to get lighter…
but the lightning continued all around. Making this morning a very cool bike ride!

And very “STRIKING.”

As I turned around and started back from Burnham Harbor, I made the bend,
went under the bridge at Solidarity Drive and the Shedd Aquarium was all aglow
with the sunrise reflecting in their windows. Beautiful…

Another beautiful morning. This whole week has been beautiful.
After a long, drawn-out, very wet, very cold Spring… this week has been PERFECT!
As was the sunrise this morning over Burnham Harbor. I especially love the glow over
the dome of the Adler Planetarium… and the bird posing for this morning’s photo shoot.

Heading south, I made it through the city and stopped off at Monroe Harbor
as the sun was just cresting the horizon. It was stunning. So quiet. So beautiful.
So glad I got up a little earlier and go to pedal further down the lakefront.

So I realized today that if I get up just a bit earlier… I can ride a little bit further!
So I did today… and packed a LOT of fun into my morning.
And got to see a beautiful crescent moon sunrise combo for a change!

After a wonderful weekend ride yesterday out in the western farm fields…
okay, it was a double metric Century = 200 kilometers = 124 miles!!!
But who’s counting, huh?!
I knew I had to get up this morning to ride before work
and loosen up those stiff legs. Unfortunately, when I stepped out on to the back
porch, I found out right away that I had a flat rear tire! Bad start to the morning.
So I fixed it as fast as I could so that I didn’t miss the sunrise. It was a little darker
and windier than I would like… but it was worth it… and my legs feel better now!

Apparently, yesterday’s “hurricane” has moved on.
Leaving this morning back to normal with a beautiful sunrise.
But in its wake, it left behind a ton of humidity!!!
