A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

This morning was foggy when I got up for my sunrise bike ride. Kind looks like there’s not even going to BE a sunrise today?!

Even the city skyline is obliterated by the foggy clouds hovering low.

From the other direction, the entire North Avenue Beach House was missing too!

By the time I got closer to home, the fog had dissipated a bit, and turned more into clouds. Huge clouds. Heavy clouds. Flying low on the horizon everywhere you looked.

After yesterday’s Chicago Triathlon, I must admit that my legs were a little stiff…
and it felt great to be back on the bike to work out a few kinks.

It was a great ride with a beautiful sunrise.
and my legs felt a lot better by the time I got home!

Strong winds blowing in off the lake this morning, bringing crashing waves along with it. The colors were crisp & clean… as was the sound of the waves!

And kind of an ominous sign this morning… for the first time, there was a stray “boat” floating out in the water this morning. Made me wonder where the riders were?… the owner?… and didn’t anyone notice that this floating toy was no longer attached to their boat when they got back to the harbor???

What started out as a slightly hazy morning, turned out to have some stunning shimmering reflections on the lake.

Of course that was after I had to fix an instant flat tire in the darkness as I hit a HUGE pothole in an unmarked construction zone!!! Ouch!!!

This morning was a little hazy. A little warm & very still. No breeze. No waves.
Not even a ripple…except for the guy making his own as he paddles into the sunrise!

Plus, on the breakwater by North Avenue Beach, there’s some wonderfully exposed steel rebar where the concrete has been broken away over the years. So just in case you’re getting tired of bike silhouettes…

Let me just say this upfront… there’s a LOT of pictures here!
But the sunrise was so beautiful this morning that I took over 100 photos!!!
I tried my best, but couldn’t narrow it down any further than these.
Sorry that you need to “suffer through” a bunch of beautiful sunrises today.
It was “painful” for me too!!!… ha!

The day started out dark & moody. Lots of clouds. Lots of potential.
It wasn’t until I got down around Oak Street Beach that I saw the waves splashing up almost to the Lake Shore Drive S-curve! Guess I’m not swimming again this morning…

It was another crazy morning… windy, loud and full of crashing waves.
This morning my ride was all about timing. Timing was everything.
The waves were crashing all around and if you didn’t time it just right, you could easily get hit by a wave and wiped out, drenched by the wave… or caught off guard as you try to capture the splash with the camera!
