A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

And ready for a patriotic Fourth of July today… the City is definitely ready!!!

It feels great to be home. It was a long stint in Dover, Delaware. The concerts were great. The music festivals were a success. But still… my own bed is wonderful. My own shower. My own kitchen. It feels great to be back home and back on my “real” bike. A bike that is NOT covered with mud!!! Unfortunately, the misty cloudy sunrise seems to have followed me home?!

Totally gray this morning… misty, foggy and a little depressing during low tide.
Not really how I had hoped my last Dover sunrise ride would turn out.
After so many stunning morning sky shows… this is not one of them!!!

One last morning with the horseshoe crabs. I flipped several of them back over… and could see signs that some of them may have been a bit frisky overnight with signs of their “dance” still in the sand.

Leaving Pickering Beach, it was even darker & mistier than when I got there.
Moody. Misty. Morning.

As I was pedaling back to the hotel, I found it oddly coincidental that the signs were all there…
guess it’s really time for my Dover adventure to come to an end. It’s been a great run… a lot of work, a lot of fun, a lot of mud. But the concerts are over, the last of the trucks is being packed today and we’re all ready to head back home!

Huge potential this morning for a wonderful sunrise… but it never quite came together?!
Nice red sun reflections… but I kept waiting for the color to bounce off the clouds!?
Kinda moody here again at the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

As the sun tucked behind the clouds, I almost thought the sunrise was over.
But then it made a comeback and created and dramatic golden glow.

Pedaling to the beach as the sun starts to rise. Always ready to capture the vibrant colors over the local Dover farms.

With very few morning clouds in the sky, the sunrise provided a vibrant shade of orange.

With a perfectly clear sky… we needed a little “structure” to play with for some silhouette fun!!!

The bigger the masterpiece, the bigger the canvas.

Soon enough the dark cloud lightened up and worked their way into the picture. Painting a pastel masterpiece across the sky! Ever-changing. Sweeping across the morning sky.

Dark clouds early this morning… with a tiny stripe of orange fun on the horizon!
Fine layers of orange stripes dappled with dark purple clouds.

But the BEST ONE might not be the biggest. Bigger is not always better.
But I did save the BEST for last!!!

The clouds moved in just as the sun continued to rise. The deep, dark saturated colors dissipated a bit as the sun started to splash across the clouds. The combination of the two created quite a moody morning and some beautiful silhouettes of the Port Mahon fishing pier.
