This morning was beautiful. Crisp & clear with less humidity than normal.
Not many clouds in the sky… but the ones that were there sure did what they needed to do!

Beautiful early morning sunrise over Belmont Harbor, As the sun continued to rise, the clouds took on a wonderful splash of color that glittered on the horizon.

This morning was dark… at least one half of the sky!
There was one large, dark cloud to the south of the brighter clear side.

The waves were crashing as the sky turned a dark crimson red.

But soon enough, the sun worked its way out to peek through for a very brief moment.

Soon enough, that one dark cloud took over… and the sunrise situation was over.

Clear skies with light pastel clouds.
Simple & clear for the rippled reflections on the water.

Dark & dramatic over Belmont Harbor and the lakefront construction zone at Fullerton.

And a few minutes later…

Then as the sun came up the clouds moved in… and the dark drama gave way to a sparkling golden sky show!

Dark clouds… dark drama…

And then a small patch of red glowing in the clouds…

And finally the sun popped up and the dark clouds lit up…

Dark clouds make dark drama. Always great potential for something cool to happen.

Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning… uh oh, does this sky mean anything?…

Finally the sun made an appearance and threw a splash of red onto the clouds.

And then the reflections began…

The sun went back behind the clouds. Reflection ended. Sky went blue. Clouds went white.

Luckily, the sun peeked through again for a bit of sunrise perfection!!!

And now back to the Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival for Day Two!!!

A dark morning sunrise over the lake… and casting a beautiful glow over the lakefront construction zone at Fullerton. That area has been closed all summer, with no sign of being done any time soon!

But then it was back to a normal sunrise. Crisp, clear and cloud-free!!!

Yes… these two photos are very similar… sorry…
but did you notice the hundreds of dragonflies photo-bombing my photo?!!!
We’ve been having a huge dragonfly infestation here in Chicago for the past few days.

And now I’ve got to get going… back to the Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival to kick-off Day One!!! You gotta love the Friday set-up option. Makes Saturday SO much more enjoyable & hassle-free. I would have missed this great bike ride if I wasn’t already all set-up.
