So I have a little “situation” going on at home?! I purchased a sweet potato with plans to cook it up with dinner one night. But things got busy… and I kinda forgot about it a bit. And then THIS happened?!

No water… no roots… just these crazy cool sprouts!!!

So… do I let it go?…
do I put it in water and call it a new houseplant?…
or do I try to cut these off and see if it’s still edible?!

Thrown & stamped all in one day. I LOVE when that happens! A quick batch of spoon rests on Friday-Funday… where a LOT of the day was spent outside playing on my bike!!!

Another happy plant… throwing up a whole new layer of leaves unfurling in the center! Looks like it’s been enjoying the summer basking in the sun on my kitchen windowsill.

Adding a few accents of colored flashing slip to this latest batch of mugs… just trying to build enough work to fill my next soda kiln!

So today is the first “official” day of Fall… and it looks like my pal Rosene has already started switching out her pottery collection to reflect the season! Gone are the bright colors of summer… enter the warm colors of Autumn!!!

Well, I don’t think THIS happens too often?… it’s the first time for me!

One of my cactus has decided to shoot up a long stalk of a flowering stem! Kinda cool… not sure what will happen next. Do they open more like flowers or is this it? Cool enough either way!!!

Spent a little time making some more bowls. They’ve were thrown yesterday and kept under-wraps overnight. So today they were just a little too damp to stamp. But after leaving them set out for a half hour or so, they were good to go. So I did some stamping… because I’m addicted… and because MORE IS MORE!!!

So for now, they’re all back under plastic so they can dry a bit slower. They still need to be trimmed & dried… and then bisque fired… glazed… and fired again! Still a ways to go – but they’re looking pretty good so far!

Spent some time in the studio finishing up a couple batches of new test tiles. I think I want to do two more batches with two more kinds of clay. Then I can bisque them and start the actual glaze tests. I’ve been wanting to clean out & update my studio glazes for awhile now. Guess after five months I’ve waited long enough…

Today I did a bit of cleaning, detailing & accenting on my mugs with some colored flashing slips! With the “magic” of the soda kiln, this colored slip will change to a nice mustard yellow with some flashed modifications around the cup based on where the flames “kiss” the pot during firing.
