Looks like Jody is enjoying a little snack… red wine over ice, with bread & butter. Always a tasty treat… but even more so on handmade pottery! Thanks for sharing Jody… even though some have said it looks a bit more like Communion than a snack?!!!

Celebrating a little MUGSHOT MONDAY… with a sad occasion for my friend Kristen! My mugs may be food-safe, dishwasher-safe & microwave-safe… but they are NOT gravity-safe! Too bad Kristen learned that lesson the hard way… luckily she has a few back-ups & a few “imposters” we need to work on replacing!!! Hint, hint…

Well, here it is… stamped & soda-fired… and my September “entry” in the MONTHLY CHAIN CHALLENGE! I’ve been working on it for awhile now, and I’ve been waiting to share it here. I think the original intention of the challenge was for metalsmiths to show-off their handmade metal chains… but you can make CLAY chains too! And I did… so there!!! HA!!!

After bisque firing my chain, I started adding some inlaid glazes into the stamped details. After soda-firing, the chain should be toasty & shiny with some stamped textures & patterns!

Soon enough the extruded coils started becoming a large chain… complete with some stamped details on every other link & some colored flashing slip accents to boot!

Plenty of platters!!!
I’m pretty excited to be bringing a bunch of NEW textured platters to ART IN THE BARN this weekend! It’s been fun exploring a new form with some new layered textures & patterns! You know I come from the school of MORE IS MORE… and I think I’ve succeeded!!!

Swirls, spirals & stamps! A mesmerizing combination with a deep green glaze making this platter a stunner! More plates & platters like this will be coming with me to ART IN THE BARN this weekend in Barrington! C’mon out… I’ll be in the Lower Barn in my usual double booth space!

Don’t think that ART IN THE BARN will be “just” Red Devil Ghouls!!!… I will also have plenty of mugs, bowls, vases & all of my other functional work! No worries… I’ve been stamping, soda-firing & glazing regular pottery for this weekend too!!! It’s not just about the little red devils!

I’ll also have a selection of my new “hybrid mugs”… the combined wheelthrown & handbuilt mugs with textured pattern all the way around. So be sure to come to ART IN THE BARN to grab yourself a new mug… crying kid not included!!!
Thanks for the photo Nancy… looks like little Teagan wants to “get out” of that huge mug!

Beautiful roses for a beautiful birthday present for my friend Kelly. Her Mom gave her the stunning flowers… and Kelly put them in one of my stamped & soda-fired vases. Gorgeous roses… but methinks Kelly might need a bigger vase soon???
