Started glazing some mugs today… adding some tenmoku glaze into the stamped impressions. These mugs will be in my next soda kiln firing, so they don’t need a lot of glaze. The soda kiln atmosphere will take care of “glazing” the exterior!

Better?… or was Melissa the only one who noticed that my earlier post somehow “demoted” Patrick away from being a Saint?! Too funny… I totally didn’t notice that one! My bad.

I’ve added a few layers of colored flashing slips to my mugs. A band of color along the top, and some smaller dabs of color inside most of the stamps! Hopefully these colors will “play well” during the atmospheric soda firing later! And now it’s off to class downstairs…

Score, slip, attach, repeat… repeat.. repeat… Another batch of mugs assembled… now they just need some colored flashing slip accents & details! Just hoping to get them all done before I go down to teach class tonight!!
Happy Mugshot Monday!!!

Just getting ready to tackle a new batch of mugs… getting ready for some fun trimming, which we all know I LOVE!!! Especially with my line-up of trimming tools from DiamondCore Tools.

This morning I subbed for an intermediate wheelthrowing class. We talked & laughed… and then I did a couple demos. We started with throwing a large platter. And then, with a little “Julia Child kitchen switch-out magic” I switched to a platter that I had thrown a couple days ago and did a fun stamping demo for them. I think I may have won them over?…

Finished up another batch of stamped mugs. This batch is destined for a trip through my next soda kiln… as they have been accented & detailed with colored flashing slips which will show up a lot more after the atmospheric firing.

Looks like “shared-birthdate-buddy” Allyn is enjoying her mornings a bit more with her new handmade mugs!!! A perfect way to celebrate another Mugshot Monday!
