After a big race day, it was fun to relax in the studio tonight stamping some mugs and making some more textured tiles.

Two dozen cylinders in need of some stamping. Luckily, I have several tool boxes full of stamps… and some time this afternoon to do some texturing. So here we have some cylinders before & after… each destined to become a mug after trimming & handles!

Last Sunday, I subbed for my friend Catherine’s Soda Firing class. We chatted, toured my studio, discussed & solved “all of the problems in the clay world”… and then I told them it could be “Demo On Demand”… and I ended up stamping a large platter!!!

This morning I took off the first row of bricks to help speed up the cooling process. I’m pretty sure my Soda-Firing Workshop students will appreciate unloading a cooler kiln. It’s never fun when everything is all too hot too handle. Plus, when you take out a couple rows of bricks… you also get a sneak peek of the treasures inside. Looks like a few of my stamped pots made it in as kiln filler for the workshop firing.

Just a couple last-minute pots in the bisque kiln even as we speak…
getting ready for this weekend’s Soda-Firing Workshop.

You know they’re my favorite thing to make.
If I could only make one shape for the rest of my pottery career it would definitely be MUGS!!! So here’s to another Mugshot Monday… and a quick reminder of the Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival this weekend if you want to get a mug of your own!!!

Another bowl getting a few finishing touches…
just in time for one last firing before the Evanston Lakeshore Fine Arts Festival!!!

Just stamping out a few last minute pieces for next weekend’s Evanston Lakeshore Fine Arts Festival. These little babies will be “fired fast” just in time for the show. Dawes Park in Evanston right along the lakefront on Saturday & Sunday!!! Booth #32.

Celebrating MUGSHOT MONDAY with another stamped & soda-fired mug with some nice flashing & orange peel effects.

Freshly stamped mugs drying in the studio. Getting ready for the Evanston Lakeshore Fine Arts Festival on August 6th & 7th. Got a couple firings to squeeze in before then!!!
