And here are the same “Moon Jars” after soda-firing… all of them on their way to ART IN THE BARN this weekend!!! Pretty round vases that would look even prettier with pretty flowers inside!!!

At one point last session, one of my “advanced beginning” students requested a demo on making a moon jar… well, there’s no lid… so it’s more like a spherical vase. We made one in class, and I was kind of enamored by it. So I made a few more!!! Thanks Allison for the request & inspiration!!!
Mark your calendar! This weekend is a fun kick-off of Fall at ART IN THE BARN!
It’s my last outdoor art fair of the season & all decorated for Fall!
Even if there’s a few sprinkles of rain in the forecast, my booth is open-air
yet protected inside the vintage barn!
And it’s a big one where I have a double booth full of twice as much pottery!!!
Including Fall “specialties” like pumpkins & my annual Halloween “Ghoul” collectibles.
Hope you can make it… I’d love to see you there!
Like a kiss from a rose… in a stamped & soda-fired vase! Pretty little orange garden roses in an oval vase… with a strappy little handle that helps keep the flowers where you want them! I’ll be bringing a few of these oval vases to ART IN THE BARN next weekend.
Also finished off another batch of wheelthrown holiday ornaments. Getting ready for a bisque firing… then into a soda kiln for the final firing. New ornaments & holidays coming soon… sooner than you think!!!
Making some “kiln filler” mini vases for an upcoming soda kiln.
Just finished trimming & painting with colored flashing slip accents!
This hasn’t happened for a LONG time… like when I started stamping.
But tonight I stamped some of the cylinders from Tuesday night’s class demo.
I could tell they were still far too wet… and I should wait another day or so.
But I didn’t listen to myself… and I ended up stamping right through the side of the cylinder!!!
Maybe good for a dribble glass???… or portion control… or most likely the reclaim bin!
It’s just clay!!! Listen to the clay next time… and wait…
Well, it looks like the collaboration project is finally “collaborating” together! Yep… this year it’s terra cotta flowerpots for the WIN!!! I made all of the flowerpots & water saucers with my stamping, and now Cory is adding her own special sort of handbuilt whimsy! Love her creativity… even more when you see them come together in COLOR!!! More photos to come… as the “Big Reveal” will happen at ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend in Glenview!
Just doing a little early morning stamping in the studio. These are destined for ART IN THE GARDEN in two weeks… and my pal Cory has some great plans to add her own kind of “magic” to them first!!! You know how I LOVE collaboration projects!!!
Pretty pink sweet peas posing in pottery per my Peoria pals! Yes please!
And thanks for sharing Gerry & Rosene… pink petal perfection!
