So MY part of the collaboration is done! Now it’s up to Cheryl to match-up her paintings to go with my soda-fired picture frames. I can’t wait to see how she pairs them up. I love her paintings… and I hope they “play well” with my frames! We’ll each be selling collaborations in our booths at ART IN THE BARN.

Making frames for my next collaboration project… and you know I love collaborations!
My friend Cheryl Holz makes these really great “mini” paintings… so I’m making some ceramic frames for them! Our plan is that these soda-fired frames will each host a Cheryl original painting… and be available only at ART IN THE BARN in Barrington next weekend 9/22 & 9/23. Mark your calendars!

After this morning’s sunrise bike ride, I swung by the studio to unload one last kiln for this weekend’s ART IN THE GARDEN. And I was quite pleased with these large bowls. These green glazes worked perfectly with the stamping… pooling, breaking & running in all the right places! Can’t wait to show these off and to send a few off to good homes… maybe with a little add-on thanks to my “cohort in crime” Cory McCrory!!!

A new stamped & soda-fired mug for another Mugshot Monday!

Looks pretty, right???

Well look closely…
I’m pretty sure you’re NOT supposed to be able to see THROUGH the bottom of a platter?!
I think I may have trimmed this one just a bit too close. It looked good after bisque, but it seems to have “opened up” during the glaze firing. Not so good.

Another batch. Stamped. Trimmed. Drying…
and racing their way into this weekend’s kiln!

Summer Camp has ended and soon enough it will be Christmas!!! Say it isn’t so!!!!…
But just in case, I’ll be ready with another batch of soon-to-be soda-fired
wheelthrown ornaments!

Throwing clay. Throwing large.
Big shallow bowls to hold big things… or lots of little things!!!

Making LOTS of large bowls for my upcoming show ART IN THE GARDEN
in Glenview. Gotta move them along quickly if they’re going to be glazed in time!

Now if only they had a companion?… Â Â Cory???

This week in class I did a “demo-on-demand” on how to throw plates. Sure, I could have left my demo plain, but what fun is that?! Always better after a bit of stamping!

And the stamp that did most of the work…
