So I’ve unloaded the bisque kiln and now I’ve got just a bit of glazing to do. These are more of my new “wheelthrown-handbuilt-combo” mugs. They’re all ready to go… but I might tackle these tomorrow! Seems a little daunting right now?! I’ve got time… my next soda-firing is still a ways away!
Last night in my SURFACE DECORATIONS class, I did a little “Demo-On-Demand” repeat. They saw my post about the handbuilt textured platter from Tuesday night’s class… and they wanted to see it too!!! So I did it again… this time with a commercial roller from a paint store, and a small grooved rolling pin! These are turning out pretty cool… I may need to make more of these???
Tonight in my Beginner’s pottery class, we tackled throwing plates again… and then BY POPULAR DEMAND we made some stamps for them to use next week! It was all their idea… really… I was just there to encourage & teach!!! Let the addiction begin…
So I kinda forgot about this bowl… trimmed & under plastic… still a remainder from our first night of SURFACE DECORATION class! We started with an ombre’ blend of green & white slips… which could have been enough. But more is more, right?! So I finally finished it off today with some decorative carving using a P1 curved tip carving tool from DiamondCore Tools. So much better now!
With the recent cold-spell & dusting of April snow, it seemed oddly appropriate to crank-out another batch of Christmas ornaments!!! I love making them… but I LOVE Summer more!!! I’m kinda done with the cold weather.
And for those of you who just want to see a lot of mugs… here you go… individual shots of the latest batch! What better way to celebrate another MUGSHOT MONDAY than with a lot of mugs?!
Celebrating with LOTS of mugs… my new “wheelthrown-handbuilt-combo” mugs with some fun textures all around! Drying now… as they’ve all been dipped in some soda flashing slips. So when they finally get fired in my next soda kiln, they should get some fun colors & dramatic flashing effects!
So I finished up another batch of stamped mugs tonight… adding the handles in “a bit of a rush” so I could skip out early for some evening ice cream fun with friends!!! Feels good to have the mugs done & under plastic overnight… feels even better to have had my fill of Lickity Split frozen custard!!!
Sure, smooth was nice…
but now they look a LOT BETTER after a bit of stamping!!!
Who says the wheel only makes circular pots?!
Not me.
