Sure it might be cold outside… but I still have some colorful orchids blooming on my kitchen windowsill. A little “bright spot of warmth” on a chilly December day.

It was so nice to see the sun finally come through late this afternoon. And I love the juxtaposition of the urban train trestle bridge and the way Nature just doesn’t care… and still finds a way to call it home.

It was a chilly morning bike ride, Red skies and some beautifully frosted leaves on the ground. Sadly, the frost won’t last long as the sun rises.

Flowering kale providing beautiful Fall colors & textures.

While enjoying the Fall foliage, I also ran across a group of trees that had these wonderful pink flowers… with little red berried emerging from inside. It’s funny to see trees “blooming” this time of year?! I have no idea what kind of tree they are, but they kind of remind me of a bittesweet flower?! Anyone out there know what this is???

Clear & cold. The sky was clear of clouds, just crisp & orange.

The ground was cold, and the first real frost we’ve had by the Lake. The frost covered leaves are always beautiful to see… but I’m not quite ready to give in to the cold.

While I was waiting for the clouds to move through and for the sun to break through, I noticed some beautiful leaves on the ground along the lakefront. I love Fall… with all of the wonderful colors & textures of Nature. This pink color on the back side of this red leaf was pretty incredible… and the dew drops put it off the charts!!!

A few more traditional leaves with traditional Fall colors.

As if these weren’t pretty enough, there were also some great leaves that had fallen into some puddles. I loved the submerged leaves and how they all floated to the top of the puddle with the subtle reflection on the water.

With the blustery winds blowing all of the leaves off the trees, why not add some more trees just to add some more color?! Makes perfect sense to me… ha!

I’m sure it will make more sense next year when we have more trees in the park?!
