Celebrating a splash of color from my latest soda firing for another Mugshot Monday! Just to prove that all soda fired mugs DON’T have to be all brown & gray!

My mugs may be food-safe & dishwasher-safe… but they’re not gravity-safe! Always kinda kills me when someone sends me one of these pictures… but in the endIT’S JUST CLAY!!!

Doing a little glaze inlay into the stamped impressions on a bunch of mugs! I’m filling the stamps with a tenmoku glaze, and then wiping off the “top” surface so the glaze only stays in the texture impressions.

Looks like I’ve got more than a little glazing to do tonight… ugh… not my favorite part of the process! But I do LOVE the results… so I guess it’s worth it?!

Racing towards some deadlines as I try to get a few last-minute pieces made for this weekend’s soda kiln… like these “hybrid” mugs which are a combo of wheelthrowing & handbuilding techniques.

Good to see my friend Julie is celebrating a little Mugshot Monday with her new “favorite” mug… that she picked up during my Pop-Up Shop at MAURIE’S SUGAR SHOPPE!

So we recently got a new slip color at Lillstreet.
RED… and not a rusty iron red, but a true holiday red!!!

I’ve used it a couple times with some of my Summer Campers… but never on my own work. So this is a test. I can’t wait to see if it does anything cool in the soda kiln. Might be nice, might not be… we’ll see in a couple weeks!

What better way to celebrate than with another batch of mugs freshly stamped, assembled & accents painted with colored flashing slips.

Stamped mugs getting a little lovin’ with some accents painted with colored flashing slip. If all goes well during the soda-firing, this slip will change to a smooth orange color with nice flashing effects.

Here we go again… more handles… more fun… making more MUGS!!! Always my favorite thing to make!!!
