Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates the day… mine will be filled with my family in pajamas, silly holiday games with fun “presents” as prizes, breakfast foods for dinner & plenty of holiday desserts! Hoping your day is filled with fun festivities too.
A little sunrise “present” this morning to start off my Christmas Day. It was great to finally NOT have a gray, rainy & overly clouded morning. It felt good to start my day with a nice bike ride… now bring on the Christmas treats & sweets!!!
Celebrating a beautiful night showing off a beautiful collection of ceramic Christmas Trees… in a beautiful display cabinet. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday weekend. And thanks to Keith & Julie for sharing their collections with us.
But wait… what is that?… a red & white peppermint-striped tree?… perhaps some festive inspiration for next year???
After my recent online pop-up Christmas Tree sale… it looks like Anna’s FOREST of Christmas Trees just keeps getting bigger & bigger down in Orlando!!!
The usual holiday tradition of a tree is manifested in an unadorned aluminum pole, which is in direct contrast to normal holiday materialism. Those attending Festivus may also participate in the “Airing of Grievances” which is an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year, followed by a Festivus dinner, and then completed by the “Feats of Strength” where the head of the household must be pinned.
Another festive Christmas display… this time all the way from Kissimmee! It might be warm outside in Florida, but there’s a snowy winter frost, holly berries, candles & a ceramic Christmas tree inside! Thanks for sharing your holidays Beverly!
So here’s my very favorite installation at the Chicago Botanic Garden’s LIGHTSCAPE holiday display. It’s towards the end of the holiday “journey”… but well worth the wait! It’s a huge “structure” of a Christmas tree wrapped with hundreds of wires that catch the light as the colors change & move. STUNNING!!! And oh, but wait there’s more… the wires also emanate from the surrounding deciduous trees streaming to the Christmas Tree! Wires tethered everywhere. Catching light. Glistening in holiday colors!!!
But here’s the crazy part… the very next day, I was at a site-visit for a new project, and I met a couple of new designers, one of them a lighting designer. I mentioned that we had just gone to LIGHTSCAPE the night before and that I loved it… and that this “wire-wrapped tree” was my favorite. Imagine my surprise when the lighting designer guy I just met says… “That one is mine.” Yep, strange coincidence to meet the designer of my favorite tree the very next day!!! Thank you for sharing your talents Chris Wren!!!
A fun & festive evening with friends at the Chicago Botanic Garden for LIGHTSCAPE… and amazing collection of holiday lights & art installations! I’ve been to the gardens many, many times… but this was my very first time going for their holiday light show… and I was BLOWN AWAY!!! Stunning lights, colors, holiday music & photo-ops everywhere you turn! Scroll down through the photos to follow my “journey” through the holiday gardens of LIGHTSCAPE.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… with ceramic Christmas Trees arriving every day! A beautiful combination with a grapevine wreath, red berries, tablecloth and a cute little… oh wait, is that a tiny partridge?! Thanks for sharing your holiday display Lisa!
